Lag everytime a non-english character is in chat

Everytime a non-english character is in chat, I always get lagged for a moment. This can be quite bothersome in matches and when I'm on tempus, as whenever the korean server info pops up or whenever a player with non-english characters in their username joins the game, I get lagged. Is there a fix? Thx

Wild (probably wrong) guess but do you have a custom font for chat in your hud? How would you describe the lag, is it your fps dropping somewhat, or the game freezing entirely for a bit, or something else?

BarytaQdoes hiding chat through hud_saytext_time 0 help?

Haven't tested it out yet, but I kind of prefer having chat open.

I used to have/ still have similar problems with tf2 and other games. Pretty much every time something "new" happens my game would freeze. What you could try is add a part to your autoexec that prints all korean symbols to your console.
The theory behind that is that then the korean symbols then are in ram and don't have to get loaded from the hard drive.
No idea if that works though but I think it might be worth trying, but maybe mastercoms is onto something.
