I heard an HDMI 2.0 can run 120hz @ 1080p and 4K@60Hz. Does that mean I could run 144hz through an HMDI if I scale my resolution really low. I normally play at 640x480 and my native is 1024x768.

1024 is my desktop res. I play on a craptop with iGPU (Intel 4000). The craptop only has an HDMI port and I'm hesitant to buy a whole new rig but the monitor is within my price range.

Can't find any 120 Hz monitors on market in my region at all atm. They are either <120 or 144 Hz (the latter cost more than I'm willing to pay for a monitor plus I think 120 would be enough for me). Is this a local lack of variety or 144 Hz monitors are replacing all the 120 Hz ones?

Hey guys I'm thinking about upgrading my older 120hz (asus vg236he) to either an asus VG248QE or a BenQ XL2411Z. I heard the monitor i have right now has some slight input lag issues which id like to believe is true so i can blame that when my meatshots do 10 damage. Has anybody else here done a similar upgrade and noticed an improvement?

- Changed my colors, contrast, etc. (ASUS 144Hz. has ass colors out of the box.)
- Installed the Light boost thing for zero motion blur.

I went back to the drawing board and used an HDMI cable instead of a VGA Cable, in an attempt to get 75Hz without scaling issues. It worked. 60Hz (Stock) → 67Hz (VGA w/out scaling issues) → 74.5Hz (Maximum w/ HDMI)
I can feel a pretty huge difference in smoothness just by going up 7.5Hz, I wonder how it'll feel to use a legit 120/144Hz...

If you want a cheap 144Hz
go for 1 of these korean models

Make sure if you get 1 of those you get the perfect pixel guarantee otherwise expect a shit ton of dead/stuck pixels. Also both can be overclocked but that really fucks with the colors.
Though the 2411z and VG248QE are going to be much better overall than those (both have OSD menus to start with or at least a better one, better default colors, better pixel overdrive which means less "ghosting", I believe both can do lightboost or some form of blur reduction, both have significantly better customer support). The QNIX doesn't have an OSD menu, and both of those monitor have about ~2ms of input lag which still makes them better than most 144Hz and cheaper. If you want a cheap 144Hz
go for 1 of these korean models

Make sure if you get 1 of those you get the perfect pixel guarantee otherwise expect a shit ton of dead/stuck pixels. Also both can be overclocked but that really fucks with the colors.
Though the 2411z and VG248QE are going to be much better overall than those (both have OSD menus to start with or at least a better one, better default colors, better pixel overdrive which means less "ghosting", I believe both can do lightboost or some form of blur reduction, both have significantly better customer support). The QNIX doesn't have an OSD menu, and both of those monitor have about ~2ms of input lag which still makes them better than most 144Hz and cheaper.
