mustardoverlordcrossfirei still think tftv should have a section of the site (not the official "news" section) to host community written articles and opinion pieces. tftv wouldn't pay these writers but give their content more exposure than just a regular thread string.
I like this idea a lot as a compromise
It would be a lot more like what VanillaTF2 did :)

AvastAlso even if I disagree with TF.TV's decision there is a still a logical reasoning behind it as there are only so many volunteer hours we can utilize towards content creation.
If you really do care about content for Open/IM and HL to be posted here and elsewhere its on you to contribute towards its creation to demonstrate the merit of such articles as this site runs on a volunteer basis.
I'm sure if the interest is actually there the articles can be brought back, but the demand and resources have to be there first to justify it.
Its not a matter of people not writing them, the limiting factor is how the TFTV management want to change the news area of the site.

ETF2L's Highlander Season 9 playoffs begin

ETF2L Highlander Season 9 Playoffs
The 7 weeks of the regular season are now over, Christmas has come and gone which means Season 9's Playoffs are about to begin. January will be bringing the best teams fight for their respective titles across Premiership, High, Mid and Open.
Join casters CeeJaey & sigafoo with Jon on camera for our first two contenders, the 3rd place squad of Highpander© facing down on The Experiment, our 4th place team. Throughout the season Highpander© have only dropped 2 points; during their Week 3 official with The Experiment on pl_barnblitz but still won the game. Over the season The Experiment have only won 3 of the matches they entered with the rest as defeats while Highpander© have racked up 5 victories, a draw to Strong Opinions and a GC loss to Tourettes Chessclub earning them a tidy 31 points, 13 ahead of The Experiment.
So when these two sides face off in a BO3 map matchup, will Highpander© take this time to climb back up, closing the gap to have another chance at the Grand Final against the wall of Tourettes Chessclub or will The Experiment show their true colours to reach further into the skies of premiership? Tune in on Sunday 3rd January 2016 at 21 CET / 3PM EST with BlackOut TV to find out!
Over the next few weeks the Semi-Final and Grand Final of Premiership will also be played:
- Semi-Final: Strong Opinions vs. Winner of Highpander/The Experiment
- Grand Final: Tourettes Chessclub vs. Winner of Semi-Final

BumFreezeIt upset me that it went under the radar so much, would have been nice if there were writeups for individual teams and matches, because i dont watch much highlander or know much about it. despite this being a very sixes-dominant community i didnt expect there to be so little discussion and info about the event. especially for the first highlander-exclusive lan. was still a good show though, good job
We'll carry on building this up. Constant improving of LAN coverage is something that happens over time.

We (EU HL) are currently experimenting with a VPN-only tf2 gameserver. We've used it successfully for one cast so far on BOTV and all went well. The pings despite what some may say are pretty solid, I've personally found I've had a lower ping to the VPN server than to a public server in the same geographic location. I normally get 30-40 ping to France on average but through the VPN i'm hovering on 20 ping :D
