Who's the best tf2 server provider? I've had a tragicserver for a while and had consistent problems with it. I'm looking for a chicago server.

wolsneYou could try NFO directly (This is the provider that tragic uses, but they used a reseller account so you may have a better experience with direct sale)

Tragic has recently switched over to TCAdmin for their provider. I think most of my problems have been since they switched and I'm having them switch my server back to NFO for now to see if that fixes things. If it doesn't are there any resources on setting up a server on a VPS? Thanks for the info.

we used LinuxGSM on a debian vps for the brief period my team had a server. it worked well but we got the cheapest vps we could find which was kinda shit so we canceled it in the end.

If it helps, pugchamp servers in NA have been running on NFO (except for a brief period when they were switched over last week to tragic's tcadmin stuff) since the beginning. TotH's pub and comp servers have ran on NFO for the past few years (vps and their standalone gameservers) and pugchamp's new game servers are currently on a NFO vps that I set up last weekend because people were lagging so badly on the new tragic servers. NFO's support has always been great and super fast to respond to my questions. Their DDoS protection is somewhat decent considering it is included in the price, their control panel is ancient but gets the job done, and the actual server performance is pretty good on average.

I tried out https://nodecraft.com/ for the heck of it last weekend and the concept for their servers is neat, but TF2 ate up the CPU/RAM allotment for their lowest level 'bot' and people were still getting lag issues when that happened. Also, you can't install plugins and whatnot during the free trial which sucks so you can't fully test it out without subscribing. The price is pretty steep for just a TF2 server but if you play minecraft or other games, this might be worth checking out. My interaction with their support was A+ and fairly quick as well.

And if you don't want to manage a server or worry about all this stuff then: https://na.serveme.tf/. I think premium is like a key or something per month.

I use NFO for Elo Associates and it's paid off really well.

Provided you are comfortable enough with a linux terminal to follow a guide and only need a server for scrims, I highly recommend you go with google compute engine. The standard cpu instance is plenty to run tf2 and only costs about $2-3 a month to run for scrims/matches/pre-game warmup. In addition, you get a 1yr/$300 credit, so you can basically run the server full time with auto demo uploading without costing a cent for the first year.

Outside of that, NFO is the gold standard for game servers, but expect to pay for the quality.

i personally self hosted my teams server but about 3 weeks ago my isp fucked something up so everyone had 100 ping. Im currently using serveme premium which is perfectly fine IMO.

Glad to see I'm not crazy and other people are having issues with TCAdmin as well. To get them to put you back on NFO do you just have to ask, or is there something else you gotta do?
