the problem with DDoS vs DoS is that there is very little you can do to protect yourself against DDoS, DoS is easy to stop because you simply set up your router to block an ip that sends X amount of packets in a certain time, usualy alot. DDoS however is sent from multiple ip's, and as long as the DDoSer has more available bandwidth then you do then you're screwed. Although like marxist said, if there is definitive evidence we can gather from these people then yes it is a felony.

No, setting up your "router" to block an IP through firewall won't do much or anything at all. Most of the the packets won't go to your router brah they will go to your modem. Even if you have a $1000 router you are not safe from ddos since your modem will end up eating all the packets and getting boned.
