#7 Need some help in TF2 General Discussion

Some suggestions I wish I had when I first played scout:

1. Track your aim, don't flick. Focus on your crosshair and track your targets, don't try to flick to them and shoot.
2. Don't necessarily shoot as fast as the scattergun can shoot. Shoot only when crosshair and target line up, not every 0.6 seconds every time.
3. Easier said than done but try not to worry about performance. If you fight in situations when you have the advantage, hopefully that can relieve some pressure.
4. Get more frames

Not sure if any of these actually apply to you since I haven't seen gameplay.

Langehanbrolowhy is the hitman's heatmaker banned?It's a carried-over ban from either the S3 whitelist or the ESEA whitelist. I know very little about this weapon and how it behaves it sixes, so if anyone wants to offer some insight then I'd appreciate it.

After I think 3 kills or 4 assists or some other combination that builds the focus completely, you can shoot without scoping out with a +25% charge rate, which is pretty powerful for a good sniper that positions himself well before using the focus. It seems like a pretty strong ability that you gain every once in a while, maybe a couple times per round. The downside though is pretty significant, 20% less damage on body shots. Which means you can't get body shot kills on any full health class.

kaceExample using one of the stats I sketched out, Average Health at Uber Pop: (1) Uber Fights, (2) health at start of fight, (3) more health is better. Cut and dry.
I have thought a few more stats to share:
    Even Uber Exchanges (EUE). This is both a stat and a condition for other stats. If ubers are popped within 4-5 seconds of each other, it is an Even Uber Exchange.

1. Team health before ubering
2. Length of uber/Uber milking
3. Team damage during uber

I think this would definitely be useful to see on paper. You'd be able to see clearly if you're not buffing your whole team enough before exchanging or if your flank always gets destroyed during uber fights and why you never win the post ubers.

sky_As long as you win does it really matter? Looking at logs to see who did "better or worse" only serves to inflate ego or blaming a teammate. You can get 400 dpm, a 3KAD, and lose by just baiting your team over and over again and somehow people will still call you good.

Well that's the point of this thread, to look at logs and get an understanding of what went wrong or right instead of just getting a hard on for your own stats. Like the medic stats that we have on logs, if your med is always dying in post-uber fights it is very clear. I like having stats that point out helpful things like that, and Lexx just wants to know what kinda stats are helpful and not just for boasting.

DaMeiNQuestion, from what I can tell the DM maps are just the regular maps with no additions or subtractions, is that right?

Seems like more popular maps would be smaller ones specifically made for that scenario.

Well you have custom spawns so that the fight is centralized, usually at the midpoint. There are DM specific maps but I think people like practicing on maps they'll actually play on.

EvaderWould anyone even use most of the items that were picked/banned? If we already have the staples, why would allowing anything other than those change anything, If people will always use the best choice?

Well some of these would be preference choices, staples don't necessarily mean they're better. Also, the idea is not to ban things that aren't as good because no one uses them anyway, it's to ban things that are too good/gamechanging/"broken".

I like the idea presented because it gives some logic and consistency to the banlist rather than an arbitrary decision each time a weapon is introduced or changed.

Why not just like a proximity timed return? If you're near the flag for say 5 seconds it'll return, rather than instantly when you touch it. Or is that what you're saying with the 10s return timer?
