Change Mixchamp!

Ever since the absence of Freakpugs, Pugging for open players like me have been struggling to get some quality gameplay with people our level, from lack of servers, or lack of skill. We need a change.

I think a good and easy fix for this is to change mixchamp. Basically copy and pasting the source code onto Mixchamp. Since it already has it's own servers, it would be a complete replacement, without having to adjust Pugchamp

plz upvote me im a poor open player

Copy and paste what source code onto mixchamp? And what would be the difference with just using mixchamp?

Wait so what exactly are you requesting? I don't really understand what you want to happen because you're not very clear in the OP.

Do you want freakpugs to replace mixchamp? ("Basically copy and pasting the source code (of freakpugs?) onto Mixchamp.")?
That's the same as saying "split pugchamp into Open and IM-Invite". That's basically what freakpugs is in its current state already. It doesn't fix the issue, it just changes the url you'll have to type to see how dead it is.

Do you want freakpugs to become like mixchamp?
Sure, but that won't be enough to create a stable playerbase again.

I'm from EU so I never played freakpugs so I don't know what made it die. I do have experience with managing a weekly mix group, which eventually also died out but had a stable playerbase for around a year.
If you want to revive freakpugs let your friends know.
Gather everyone, make a steam group, post events on the steam group, add up, stream it so more open players know (a simple title as "add up to freakpugs" works. It'll show up on the TFTV sidebar too), advertise it on TFTV (works for the tf2stadium lobbies Gatsan is trying to keep going), make a discord server

If freakpugs doesn't function properly then add up to pugchamp or mixchamp instead. Or just get a serveme server and make your own mix like I used to. If you have 2 people that can captain in pugchamp you can just add 12 people up and start playing. Even if you don't have captains you can still add up and sooner or later 2 random open players who can will add up as well

edit: was unaware freakpugs completely shut down. My point still stands though. You don't need pugchamp to split into a lower and higher level. All you need to do is gather people and add up to pugchamp. The higher level players will either dodge or have no choice but to pick you guys.
Or just do what I did and gather 12 people in a serveme server for an inhouse mix or pug. Plenty of the freakpugs people are looking for a new thing to play so you already have the playerbase for it. Just need to gather them in a discord server and play

freakpugs website got shut down and open players (like me) can't pug as much because we are not a priority on pugchamp
and I am basically asking to change mixchamp from being a completely random thing, to just a secondary captain style pug site.

just make all the pug champ players move to mixchamp. Problem fixed.

the captaining would without a doubt bring in more users, and make a community centered around Mixchamp. A lot of people do not play on mixchamp because of the randomness. I believe that if Mixchamp was made into a secondary pugchamp for open (or im) players, it would not only be easy, but very successful. In my opinion mixchamp is a very flawed, and under developed site, and with this suggested update it would be night, and day

This is great but at the same time can people just add up for mixchamp so open players can still play pugs. Just because freakpugs is dead doesnt mean we cant play pugs until mixchamp is changed.

in theory that fix sounds like it would be a thing, exactly like tf2stadium. but obviously this isn't the case. I can see why, the randomness of the entire website isn't really the best pugging experience

The biggest problem is recently there's been not enough pugchamp servers to accommodate the amount of people. I've seen a bunch of open players added up and the pug just doesn't start because of lack of servers.

I agree with this, but I can also understand why they wouldn't want to pay for more servers. With this mixchamp suggestion they wouldn't have to pay for anything further, since mixchamp already has it's own servers

I mean, nobody plays mixchamp as it is right now anyway so there's really no loss in changing it to be a separate captaining system even to just try it out.

high IM players / invite players also kinda ruined a few freakpugs, its hard to govern a site that only has open players without personally managing it. especially when most captains of newer players don't captain very well.

idk, mixchamp won't pick the best players added, so when I wasn't getting picked, I moved to pugchamp and had no problem getting picked. i don't see a problem with mixchamp right now outside of a lack of people playing it.
