BBiA_duchessIt might be hard to infer from what people have said, but I think that many are leaning towards a lan.

might need to be a bit more realistic tho, this thread is about ESL Play and not ESL One Cologne

if you do cups space them out and increase the prize money for each one rather than doing weekly cups

if you do a league have 2 divisions at the start, idk if esl play even offers leagues but it would be nice if we could get a similar system to esea with money and stuff

if you do pugs or a ladder...uh dont do that, at least not at first, it won't bring in enough interest since we have a bunch of systems already

if you can do a lan do it, probably a massive stretch tho

I think it would be best for ESL to be aware of the impending pyro update. Depending on how things go it could mitigate a need for whitelisting at all, though I would suggest maintaining class limits.

I think LAN and comparable/larger prize pool is about the only way a tf2 league could be implemented in NA and not just end up being CEVO (community split) all over again

I think another league would be awesome, it would just need prize pools (which would mean entry fees, but most people are fine with esea's), and most importantly more than 2 divisions (3 would probably work best, 4 would b too many). If we just have another 2 division league, I would be worried about another split in the community. If the esl league had 3 divs tho it would hopefully be obvious to dump esea.

6v6
global whitelist (http://whitelist.tf/etf2l_6v6_s27)
LAN events would get a lot more viewership + bring back more players
class limits: 2 scout/spy/soldier, 1 everything else
european ruleset is favourable

As it was said a few times already, even though the community is very passionate, spacing events up would probably be a good thing to do.
Something like weekly cups or so would probably result in difficulties containing activity and hype due to the (in comparison to other esports) rather small size of the community. It would probably be better to have fewer and bigger events, with bigger prize pools, more advertisment and coverage, etc than more and smaller events.
And yea, LAN is always - even if they're not international and after a decade of the release of the game - a big hype! :)

A point of contact who can answer questions honestly and upfront without trying to "hide" behind soft PR answers, and who can also voice the concerns of the community/attendees to the proper people (and have them talk to community members, if necessary/possible).

Rybkaif esl comes and makes a league for tf2 what would that mean for the esea leagues given that esea and esl are very close companies or connected (idk)?

From the reddit citru said that esea is just a company under esl's roof so im assuming it would stay the same

I think it's really important you don't try to compete with teamfortresstv in terms of coverage, I reckon this would split viewers really heavily. Plus I would worry that it would end up being a caster who has no experience or knowledge about competitive, so perhaps it's a good idea to contract out the tftv guys and have tftv1 host the channel while it happens?

that's if there is official coverage

wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, if they keep the same casters. (for coverage of course)

Pretty much what everybody else on here has already said, though I'd also like to throw in lesser formats for weekend cups. Something like ultiduo (2v2, medic/soldier) would work nicely, though hosting MGE (1v1) cups with soldier or scout would also be interesting.

Hosting yearly lan tournaments is also a must, and will basically make ESL the go-to for high level TF2. Just be sure to space it out. While this community is definitely passionate, it's also relatively small. You'll likely see the same teams and players competing year after year, so you don't wanna burn them out.

Attracting new players to this game is also important. I feel like smaller Ultiduo tournaments could help with that, as the concept is fairly straightforward and easy to get into. I'd also make a note of the free to play nature of TF2, and use that in marketing. There's zero upfront cost to compete, which could come in handy when trying to bring in new players.
