People playing in games mysteriously disappear in logs if they don't use the username pugchamp servers try to force

Idk if there's a possible fix but it's annoying to see 11 people in the logs all the time, even though there were 12

Do you know what username they're using instead of their PugChamp assigned one?

I've taken a deeper peek into one of the raw logs and the player is there, but has no name in the log. Therefore, it's likely that the logs.tf parser thinks it's a malformed line and skips it, causing the player to disappear. The probable solution would be fixing that issue.

Yeah if someone's name is too long logs.tf can't parse it, or the log plugin cant track the name that's too long. So it might be tftrue

Can we have unlocks such as the sticky jumper, rocket jumper and demo shields unbanned? They can be useful in certain situations in game but mainly they just make pregame a lot more fun (i.e the first 2).
I don't get why pugchamp doesn't just have the global whitelist: if we are playing pugs to practice then we should have the same rules as the real leagues; if we are playing them for fun we should include what are some of the funnest weapons.

It's probably to prevent people from griefing and only using targes & jumping weapons...

But I still agree. Shouldn't people who equip these items and tryhard with them be banned anyway?

people can still easily grief if they want to, there's plenty of bad unlocks allowed

Gosh, there are MORE languages than English in Europe? GOODNESS gracious me, if only there was a way to fix that...

In all seriousness, if most of the players in the pug team speak french or another language, i don't see whats wrong with that

if it is really important that they communicate to each other in a non-English language, they can set up whisper keys on mumble to talk to each other.

I have a question about the "fresh bans" that are made at the start of the map ban process:

How does the system decide what maps are selected to be banned at the start of the map selection? I was under the impression that the most recently played maps were supposed to be banned. However, I've seen multiple times where something like this happens

http://i.imgur.com/inTshFD.png

and the same map is played 3 times in a row. Is there some sort of hidden algorithm that decides what maps are auto-banned or is it completely random?

The system decides fresh bans based on the most recently played games of the participating players, not on the most recent games sitewide. Thus, the bans may not appear to function properly as the same map can be played in consecutive or concurrent games - this is intentional.

Because it's bad etiquette. Context matters, of course (e.g. somebody translating, non-malicious closed conversation) but otherwise it's incredibly alienating if English is being used as a universal language of communication within the context. In this case, you're trying to communicate with all your teammates. Even if it's easier with, as aforementioned as an example in the thread, a 4-2 ratio of French-English, the 2 people that can't understand French are kind of fucked.

Speaking as somebody raised in a family where English was not the first language, the rule of thumb was to avoid speaking a language in front of somebody who doesn't speak or understand it. This was in case you came off as though you're talking about the person who can't understand what you're saying, or if you came off as you maliciously or deliberately didn't want them involved in your conversation. In the presence of guests who don't speak Tagalog, my family will speak English, even if they're talking to each other, in front of those guests.

Can you add an !extend command (also removing the 5-4 windifference by 2) and an !rtv command? This is what the vast majority of people want, not just me. sometimes there's just a pug that's significantly better or more fun than others so you want to keep playing until it's over.

can you replace reckoner with another map (possibly a vote between maps such as bagel, kalinka, cardinal, etc.)?

is there an ETA of when the servers will be fixed (or when you guys will be getting new one(s) that don't stutter)?

also, when i check the match page at the end of the pug (ones that weren't aborted), occasionally the stv doesn't upload to the page.

I can't provide any promises or estimates for any possible adjustments to the system. Almost everything is affected by the system overhaul in progress, which has unfortunately been proceeding slowly due to its complexity and temporarily stalled due to currently occurring major changes in my life.

just take it as an opportunity to practice your french :) the more horribly pronounced gibberish you'll say, the more eager they will be to respond, becuase a lot of silence becomes of being shy or unable to communicate well in english. Not everyone is as easily fluent in a non native language. If they straight up ignore you though, thats something else.

The problem is that English is generally accepted as a universal language, while something like french/german/spanish etc. might not be as commonly spoken outside of countries where the language is native. If everyone in the pug speaks english, but let's say 4 people speak french, why should the 2 people who know no french have to suffer?

also fadd would be nice, at least like, right after the pug starts before anyone is picked, or both captains have to approve the fadd so it doesn't fuck up the picking, pugchamp is very good at sneakily unreadying players

Before the pug begins, I see nothing wrong with speaking a different language in the mumble. However, during the pug the language spoken should be English, unless of course everyone on the team wishes to speak a different language, but it must be everyone. (Translating for a player who isn't fluent is fine btw)
