-protolmao why is it always shitty pubbers/youtubers that get to meet with the valve team. no wonder this game is dying.

I want to get across that while we may play a different game mode (HL) and don't frequent TF.TV as much, we still want the game to succeed just as much as you do. We also didn't go there with the sole intention of grilling the tf team, and we weren't "invited" to talk to the TF team. Agro from KritzKast was meeting an artist friend there and she graciously gave us a tour. Dane being a youtuber wasn't even a factor, nobody there even mentioned that they watch his videos.

anybody can visit valve... I'm fairly certain you can call the office and say "hi i'm in town, can I get a facility tour?" and someone will more than likely okay it. Dane wasn't invited. Complaining about your disinterest in content creators is an irrelevant point. Even then, it's not like people who visit valve try to shovel suggestions down their throat. And even if they did i'd be hopeful they would ignore it.

Dane is a top bloke with a burning passion for TF2 having spoken to him at Rewind LAN.

All this thread does is confirm how divided communities are in TF2 with their views on going forward in the game, almost as if people enjoy different aspects of the game.

HildrethAll this thread does is confirm how divided communities are in TF2 with their views on going forward in the game, almost as if people enjoy different aspects of the game.

There's a massive difference between enjoying different aspects and just being literally flat out wrong about those other aspects, and preaching negativity towards them.

Take a guess which one is more harmful.

Being passionate isn't always good. It has to go hand in hand with having your facts straight.

I can't speak for everyone. But I also disagree with doing that.

However, that's not a sufficient defense for ignoring legitimate criticisms of a format (ANY format). When someone dislikes something, there's usually an actual reason behind it, even if it's just saying it's shit.

I think i finally see the issue here. There is a group of people that desperately want their favorite game to become a popular E-Sport and another group of people that want their favorite way of playing the game to become a famous E-Sport. And the unfortunate reality is that that thous 2 things are not necessarily mutually inclusive. People such as Dane want to game to become more competitive by any means necessary, while others want a vary specific way of playing the game to be the thing that becomes popular.

It just seems like the tf2 team is really disconnected from the rest of Valve. We complain that valve doesn't support us, but the people at valve that want to support us aren't getting the support they need from the actual company itself.

Not gonna lie the tf2 team is prob just regarded as the bronie pack thats stuck in the past

thats kinda sad

:c

i think uncle dane did a good job with his video and it was very interesting and informative.

he also didnt jump on the 'OMG VALVE IS GONNA MAKE TF2 GREAT AGAIN' bandwagon like every other community member who visited valve seemed to do

All_Over_RSi think uncle dane did a good job with his video and it was very interesting and informative.

Dane told me a bit before his visit that when he went he fully intended to press beyond surface answers and avoid coming back overly optimistic like many other visitors have been, and instead tried to take everything they say as objectively as possible. So when he says he had a good impression of the visit, I trust him.

That said, Valve's still very good at having impressive ideologies that lead to unimpressive initial results. As he said himself it seems like the tfteam doesn't have the number strength to carry the game the way they want to. That of course doesn't excuse the obviously bad decisions we've seen them do on repeat. The only part of this i'm contented by is that they've seemed to own up to the fact that they've mishandled previous updates and split the community, and they're set on changing that. Up until now we didn't even have hints of such a thing. If not for that i'd immediately dismiss everything they say as further politician talk.

You are basically stating your point of view is correct yet Dane has more subscribers and views than TFTV?

What are you trying to say? His views on the game are wrong because he is a pubber? Like me saying your views are wrong because I play Prem and you do not play the NA equivalent.

People here have no special or magical formula on what is right or wrong, get over yourself. Only thing people here have in common is a passion for TF2, nobody is more "right" than anyone else in the whole of the community.

I wasn't saying literally any of that. Plus, I never offered my point of view in there. Don't assume for me just because of my prior associations with TFTV. Anyone else could've written that post.

The point was it's totally fine to enjoy different aspects of this game. I do. But to demean other aspects based on incorrect facts/assumptions; that's a fucking joke, no matter what you're discussing, including outside of the game.

I don't care that he has more subs and views. You can still say the wrong thing and be popular. A lot of people certainly think b4nny is in that position right now. This is 0% about what format either of them like. This is about being factually wrong. That's it.

HildrethPeople here have no special or magical formula on what is right or wrong, get over yourself. Only thing people here have in common is a passion for TF2, nobody is more "right" than anyone else in the whole of the community.

Yes, you're correct, there is no magical formula on being right or wrong in your choice of enjoyment. I never asserted anyone being "more correct" provided they are actually basing things off fact. When they don't, is why I wrote that post.

I don't know why you think I'm somehow being super entitled or otherwise. While I was at TFTV, I ALWAYS worked towards being lenient, giving second chances, having fruitful discussions and keeping every option open, to enigma's annoyance. I sure as fuck want everyone to enjoy everything TF2 offers.

It still bugs me when people have their opinions automatically disregarded over the incorrect notion that they've got an outdated opinion or aren't qualified to speak of things

For instance many people still think dane is a HL elitist even though he's outright said he regrets that mindset and actually finds 6s interesting and supports it, likewise I've often had people accuse me of being 'pubber trash' completely unaware of the seasons i've put into both 6s and highlander. People will often label based only on what they've seen rather than what they've researched. Not saying anybody here is doing that, but with how often people have moaned over who's visiting valve it's a legitimate concern that those people moaning aren't actually aware of what they're complaining about.

this is actually one of the worst posts i've ever seen. not only is the content shit but you assume someone's opinion off of a purposefully vague post.

the difference between a pubber's understanding of the game and anyone who's played at a high level in any scene is going to be much larger than the difference between a prem and NA player's experience. it's actually such an absurd comment i'm shocked you didn't hit backspace immediately. there are definitely things in tf2 about which a qualified person has more authority to speak. this video does a good job giving objective information.

also, maybe i'm not detecting the much-needed sarcasm in the first paragraph, but "no one has any special formula on what is more right or wrong," but apparently youtube views and subscribers are a great way to start?

i hope keemstar gives his opinion on tf2 soon
