renxzennemois it that hard for invite people to tell someone (enigma?) if they had any cool airshot, spree or whatever? so people wont need to waste their time by watching stvs with nothing interesting
Tf2 is always interesting and fun to watch, and is a 'waste time' we choose because is worth it. Reviewing invite stvs is more fun, we can see some high-level shit action.

im not saying tf2 is a waste of time lol, if you have fun playing then its not
i dont like to watch all of the stvs so if im going to watch a demo just to find a good play id like to know if there is one on it

well next problem, define top IM, top 8 teams? What if a guy in the elevnth team makes a crazy play against the third team? do we break our rules then?

I think the top plays definitely should be for Invite/Prem only.

Being in invite should be something lower level players (including IM) strive for. It's not much but by being in invite you do get recognized more for your abilities and you are respected a bit more by the community.

enigmarenxzenRuwinill be honest with you i've watched many top 10 videos and i have no idea who 90% of the people are in them.
That would be fun to watch, unless you don't care about the community.

Enigma, i could, you know, review entire stvs and search for highlights and all. But i can't create videos (mostly because idk how), i could give the one creating the video the ticks of all the stvs i reviewed, that is what you are looking for?
that's exactly what we're looking for. all we need is a group of people to go through STVs and find ticks. i'll make a call for help shortly and be in touch with you then.

I'd be willing to do this as well. I love watching invite STV's for my own personal enjoyment anyways.

how about, after the people sort through stvs, enigma messages the players who got whatever clips they found asking for their pov demos

the matches in esea are all the same length so even the ticks would line up

I feel that casters/cameramen like djc, cbear, mr. slin, and lange would have to play a pretty involved role in finding the clips, given that they cast so many invite games every month firsthand. As long as they're noting noteworthy clips, and the community (from which some people are already stepping up) takes care of the few games that aren't casted, we wouldn't even need to bother the invite players.

Just allow all ESEA divisions to send in submissions. Send a zip or rar file with the stv and pov demo, and include a text file that has the ticks for the clips they are submitting along with a description. If you read "as engy I..." You can skip over it and move to the next one. If the description sounds good, look at the demo and see. Who cares what division it is as long as its a good clip...

The top 10's turned to trash because of highlander and submitting lobby/pug footage, the best plays in IM are often better than invite ones.

just use invite footage.. they're the big casted games so it makes sense to build more hype around them

I would like Invite footage since I usually cannot catch all the games. I like to think of it as a highlight reel. You don't even have to make it fancy.

i say we should have a preset rule that it's invite only, but if something really really crazy such as a quadruple airshot on an ubered thing or grand finals comes down to the wire and YouMustMike gets a 6k to win, have a little special exception of some up and coming IM talent. will these have commentary?

That stuff should have it's own series unrelated to the top10 invite plays (like extv's moments of glory).

Lower divisions lend to easier competition and grandiose plays that seem awesome in the kill feed but are pretty uninteresting otherwise. I thought the commft top10's were well made but I never cared to watch any of them.

The old push ones were great. Big names, big momemnts, big stakes. Invite only, only invite. Do it.

Should definitely keep it to top divisions only. Having clips from all manner of skill levels means it becomes really unclear to casual viewers why one clip is placed higher than another. As far as they can tell it makes no sense if #8 is a 10hp open player getting a 4 man, but then #7 is a top scout getting a clutch med pick. These videos work a lot better when there's clear context.

I think keeping it to invite/prem requires people go through the STVs though, otherwise you end up not actually having the top 10 plays of the month.

Also, it probably makes most sense to include prem. The seasons don't tend to run concurrently (at least not entirely) so you avoid having awkward months where there's no matches.

It is pretty evident from past top 10's that you can't rely on the majority of the players to submit their frags. Just make a thread for each top 10 month, people watching matches can post to the thread with what happened and the approximate time. The posts with the most +frags are probably good. If someone posts in the thread and the clip they mentioned is in the video, then give them a shout out in the video (or some forum / item incentives). Win-win imo.

You could do invite only and toss in an "IM Spotlight" clip at the end.

I like the idea of Invite/Prem only. Maybe one top IM/Div 1 play a month like sneaky said. Also, who will be producing these videos? And will there be commentary?

SneakyPolarBearYou could do invite only and toss in an "IM Spotlight" clip at the end.

this makes to much sense to not be included, but you can't have it after the #1 play cause that ruins the aftertaste of the video, you want to end top 10s on a highnote.

(if none of that made sense I apologize, highnote? aftertaste? are those really things?)

beater (as well as pafijohn, quantic lan highlights, and silver39TF2, esea s12 lan highlights) have proven that b) is definitely a plausible option

also if this happens please do not use michael bay explosion sound fx on every good shot

Invite only seems silly. There are plenty of great plays in IM (even open, but I can definitely understand the problems that come with that).

Invite/IM/Prem only seems like it would limit it to reasonably good plays but would also make clip shortages much less likely.

If you want to make a comparison to sports, the majority of fans don't give a shit about minor league highlights, and would probably never watch one. If it is something truly amazing then it will get its attention outside of the normal highlight reels. I don't see why it shouldn't be strictly invite.
