Okay so basically i found out today that apparently running tf2 in window'd mode on windows 10 increase's input lag. Can some one verify this .

And so i went back to full screen and every time i alt tab out or another way to get of tf2 my screen goes black until i alt back in . And the problem is even if i alt back into tf2 and press quite my computer screens stays permanently black. i tried ctrl+alt+delete , still didn't work . I looked around for fixes but most of them are outdated and they usually just tell them to run it on window'd mode. Anyone figured out fixes for this ?

Running anything in windowed mode with DWM enabled causes input lag.
You cannot disable DWM on Windows 10/8.1/8.
If you are not running the classic theme on windows Vista/7 you have DWM enabled.

Unless you're willing to revert to an earlier windows, you either have to put up with the vsync (input lag) from windowed, or the very long alt-tabs of fullscreen. Unfortunately there's no way to get the best of both worlds (though if there's some uncommon weird solution, I'd be glad to be corrected on that).

I used to run a 4:3 stretched res on my monitor to get 4:3 in game. Now I use 1920x1080 on monitor and another ratio in-game. I use fullscreen btw, so alt tabs should be long, but after this switch they're as fast as windowed.

you can also increase alt-tab speed by giving tf2 all of core 0 and putting everything else on 1-3

Re4lityAnyone figured out fixes for this ?

remove -dxlevel from launch options, remove mat_antialias from autoexec, set antialias to its opposite setting then back again (on/off) (this fixed an issue i had recently), make sure the game is running at the same resolution (including refresh rate) as your desktop. you can force resolution with -w and -h launch options, and refresh rate with -freq x (maybe, that might not do anything, never used it)

one of those might fix it

if you do -freq 144 for a 60hz monitor, it just damages your monitor and doesn't even go up. Trust me, i've tried D:

ScrewballRunning anything in windowed mode with DWM enabled causes input lag.
You cannot disable DWM on Windows 10/8.1/8.
If you are not running the classic theme on windows Vista/7 you have DWM enabled.

The Aero Basic theme on Vista/7 also disables DWM.

eeeyou can also increase alt-tab speed by giving tf2 all of core 0 and putting everything else on 1-3

well check in cfg if dxlevel is same everywhere, then check what is your monitor hz then write in launch options for example

" -w 1920 -h 1080 -refresh 60 "

this is working for me :)

i didn't know shit abt PC gaming and thought the launch option would give me 144 hz for free.
