Notes from the ESA Project Manager of Events Wade Radomske (@ESA_Wade):

Wade
  • One of my big goals with the event is to make it feel like 1 event as opposed to 3 different ones on the same day. So I really hope that each of the communities involved (TF2, H:CE, and SR) take the time to look at some of the other games and see what they have to offer. When I selected the 3 games for this event I really tried to find some that have some common features (aside from being timeless competitive classics) so that we get some integration between the communities. I believe that for these games to continue to maintain their presence in a Esports climate dominated by the New, they need to bring in new players, or at least new spectators/fans. So I implore you all to at least look into each of the other games a little bit, and see if it doesn't look interesting to you at all!
  • If you're going to be attending, there will definitely be opportunities to try all the games, and potentially learn from the best players each has to offer.

We have been hard at work to make this event as big as it deserves to be. Our top priorities are to obtain more funding for the prize pool, and to secure top talent for production, hosting, casting, analysis and more (we have many leads and interest, just need details to be finalized). As before, if you know of any sponsors you think may be interested, please contact B4nny (b4nnytv@gmail.com) or samiface (https://steamcommunity.com/id/samiface/).

Yao, we are getting together some carpools from the PNW to head down to LA. HMU to get looped in about it (here, @eXtelevision or eXtine@eXtelevision dawt com. )

I got a personal favor to ask of one of the cars and will be throwing some gas $$$ their way for it, so we definitely should have at least one car rolling down. Def some Burnsiders are hyped to go, but we'll have to see how it shakes out.

I'll be flying down to meXico before the event to relaX with some close friends and guacamole, then I'll be cruising into LA. Yknaowww I'm eXcited bout this.

Hello,
May you please have some kind of a crowd fund if its possible, to increase the prize pools, so the competition increases and more euros come over?
thanks

also is the fee $15 for those who want to play and use computers but not compete?

thanks cu@

I know there were some talks of a few EU teams making the trip over. Are there any confirmed teams as of now? Or even some teams that were talking seriously about making the trip over? It'd be so cool to see more teams making the trip

If a team were to play in the open tournament would they not be able to watch the finals of the invite tournament, or are they staggered.

That's something we're working on with ESA. Since all the money goes through them, we're trying to find the right way to help crowdfund while giving something back that's of value to the people contributing. There are ideas already in the works on how to do this so expect more info on that.

The $15 is if you want to participate in the other games: Halo and Shadowrun, but yes you can also use a PC to just play if you don't have a team. They're going to be doing more than just tournaments there.

KonceptI know there were some talks of a few EU teams making the trip over. Are there any confirmed teams as of now? Or even some teams that were talking seriously about making the trip over? It'd be so cool to see more teams making the trip

No teams are confirmed. Obviously this is just a starter prize pool to get the ball rolling, we'll see where it takes us from there.

Most of the scheduling will be announced day-of by the admin and will depend heavily on how many teams show up. they'll schedule it in a way that none of the 4 tournament finals overlap, however.

Could we possibly see South American teams(s) attending? I'd love to see them represented at a LAN. Hell I'll donate to a fundraiser for them

b4nny info

Hey B4nny!

Great to see the information on the LAN as well as the awesome response. I'll have to check out the other thread too. I am involved in both the Halo CE and Shadowrun community and am helping to organize those portions of the event. For those that don't know, both Halo CE and Shadowrun are considered two of the deepest and most skill based FPS on a console. I understand not everyone respects console FPS, but I am sure that those of you who attend the event will be impressed with what these games can offer.

Is there a potential list of players or teams interested in attending? I have created my own thread on a competitive Halo site and would like to add your information to there as well. If I am allowed to link my thread here I'll do so, but haven't read the rules on this site.

One goal I have is to get the people attending to try different games. Shadowrun has a very low entry fee for a team and is an incredibly complex game. It's also one of the only real Cross Platform shooters that allows for PC vs Xbox on the same server. I personally would love to try out TF2. Not sure if console players want play with a M+KB, or if M+KB wants to play with a controller, but I look forward to playing against you guys :)

Once again, if there is a list of teams or players, tournament settings, prize breakdowns or any additional information for the TF2 portion please let me know. I'd be more than happy to post the info I have for the other tournaments, although not many details are out just yet!

TeapotYoor if M+KB wants to play with a controller,

halo CE was is my childhood, sucks I was never old enough to actually understand it when it was at its prime, I hope watching this is an enlightening experience

never even heard of shadowrun, but any "highly skill-based FPS" has got my attention
