thought this was gonna be a thread on valve's clusterfuck of a graffiti (spray) update

i was pleasantly surprised

also graffiti is for sure illegal in most places so i would stray from it, even the most minor offenses could sattle you with huge fine from your city

i did graffiti for 2 years in highschool and got arrested for it. one thing i can say is there is a difference between graffiti (the art form) and vandalism. you can do graffiti productively whether you do it for a business or just in a sketch book.

in san diego at least there are places that provide paint and a wall for you to graffiti legally and they paint over when youre done. i highly recommend you look into that.

i cant link it now since im at work but i also highly recommend you watch infamy which is a really well done graffiti documentary that gives the perspectives of many well known artist from across the country.

if you every want to talk about graffiti im down because it something i was pretty passionate about.

you can usually ask your community/city if there's any preserved areas for graffiti
before you start doing graffiti you can decide if you want to do graffiti art or tagging, most art comes with a sprayer/sprayer group tag

if you don't know anything about graffiti at all there's a bunch of youtube tutorials and books, thousands of graffiti fonts (easy and hard), font shading, health protection (important if you want to do it a lot or in confined space like subways)

starting out you generally want to practise stuff with paper and pencil

if you want to go illegal do it at night, get bicycles, go to subways, bridges, train tracks, abandoned buildings (dont spray houses, its a big taboo). watch out who you're involving into the whole spraying thing or they might bust your ass

ive done it a little. look at https://www.graffiti.org/faq/index.html before you do anything. theres a written/unwritten code among artists that you should familiarize yourself with if youre seriously looking to start doing graffiti.

tag glory on something and come back with a picture.

i went to an abandoned hospital (40min drive) like last year with some friends and we just all started tagging random stuff. i think i made a crown and wrote some lyrics of a song. place was already filled to the brim with other peoples stuff tho. cops came and we booked it, im guessing they saw our flash from our cameras and stuff

i guess its not really art and just us dickin around taking pictures and stuff
