Best players currently? I'd have to go with b4nny, Mike, Stark... then it gets tough. Probably kaptain, hafficool currently but it's way closer outside the top three. There are also players who aren't playing who would make the "best of all time" look pretty different.

b4nny, Mike, Stark, alle, kaptain.
b4nny and Stark are exceptionally good on several classes and played them on a top level; Mike is an absolute god on Soldier, no doubt; alle is one of the few Demoman players, who makes a good use of jumping mechanics together with really good DM; kaptain is also an exceptionally good and consistent Soldier.

Not everyone realizes that na didn't really send all of their best players to lan
Habib and nursey are nuts, also bdonski plays pretty well considering that he's on demo with west coast ping

Most people competing are really good at their roles but are not excellent in anything else, so if we are talking players overall and not just in their roles: Stark, Mike, b4nny are probably the top3 because not only are they the best on their mainclasses, they are versatile players who can compete even outside their usual roles and classes. That being said I think alle is the closest to these players atm, he is a versatile demoman and he can call pushes pretty well. Don't know about a 5th, probably one of the Australians, but haven't followed them long enough to make a conclusion.
