I'm in college right now for Aero/Mechanical Engineering. A friend and I decided to enter an ASME competition where we design something that gets 3D-printed. We stuck with something one of us knew something about (ice climbing). A lot of frustration with Solidworks and video editing later, here is the result:

A month later, I learn that we're going to Charlotte. This is extremely exciting for me, it's my first time I've been able to travel somewhere because of something I helped create, though now we have to present and compete. I just felt like sharing this with everyone, a lot of people seem to like our design

teamfortress.tv is predominantly 6v6 oriented. If you want to talk about building stuff as an Engineer, I'd recommend checking out the UGC Forum.

I love ice climbing, where you at the Frankenstein cliffs? I spent a week or so climbing there a few years ago, it was pretty fun.

Excellent job on the video, and congrats on your travels and design!

fnmwhere you at the Frankenstein cliffs?

Good guess! I was at Texaco pretty close by, we wanted to try Frankenstein but it was pretty late in the season when we got our footage (March) and a lot of people were there, a lot better to film somewhere less popular

Ah okay, I've never been there before! Beautiful area of NH though.

DougHow long did the project take?

from design idea to submission it took about 5 months. If you don't count the day of climbing, I'd say 200 hours were put into designing, testing, printing, and making the video/business case
