Portugal has no good striker except Ronaldo. Not a single one. The team is built around CR7, and midfielders usually have a good quality in controling the ball and passing (kinda disappointed in Andre Gomes and William).
Iceland is way better than everyone thinks, and I expect them to be a pain for many teams.

Hungary can be proud, that performance is outstanding, even though Austria choked a lot.

Tomorrow begins the second day, really looking forward to it, some teams are already in big troubles and will struggle a lot more than they expected.

I loved how hyped the Iceland crowd were throughout the entire game. Just based on crowd support, they definitely deserved this relative upset.

imo portugal isnt built around cr7 anymore, just the normal since hes playing as a striker. And William didnt play in this game btw, it was Danilo :p

Paprika_30+??????? what are you on about, portugal had 5 decent goal scoring attempts iceland had 2. Also portugal looked very uncreative up front, if i supported portugal I would be so annoyed with the play they played considering the talent they have and how poor iceland were.

25 attempts vs 4

he said decent attempts, in my book that means a goal scoring threat not a shot from 25 yards out. As i have previously said only 5/6 of them were decent, also reading a stat page doesnt justify the game at all, Iceland had 2 decent chances and were much more efficient with them.

Actually those stats arent even up to date, it was actually 27 attempts vs 4

Portugal is literally the 1st team of the whole tournament in passing accuracy, total attempts and second in ball possession.
Iceland goalkeeper is also the goalkeeper with most saves of the entire tournament by a decent margin.

It's ok, you can just say you don't like Portugal.

Ball possession means nothing if you don't score, seems to be an obsession about it in some quarters of football since Spain/Barca team could ping the ball around with ease and press you to death. It's easy to keep possession vs a team like Iceland sitting in with 2 banks of 4 and Sigurdsson making an extra man in midfield without the ball, especially with people like Carvalho in the side, but what you need is quality in the final third.

Portugal must be a more frustrating side to watch than England, I think Iceland were good value for their point, defended well.

Apperantly CR was really salty after the game, calling out Iceland for cheering so much after a draw...it's their debute, cmon. Everyone would cheer, especially against such team as Portugal.

woah i have nothing against portugal, i just thought it was a disappointing performance for the players they have. There was a champions league group stage game Barca vs Celtic (2012) where Celtic won 2-1 and had 11% possession, people always look into stats too much, they dont represent the game properly.

He was quite a lot, and shit talked the Icelandic players and the way they played. Its Portugal fault for not winning. We had a lot of chances but we rushed many plays and failed to remain calm after the Iceland goal

I haven't seen any of the post game stuff, only saw that he was smiling during the game and right at the end too. Had no idea he was pissed. Not sure if he actually was tbh. That interview is terribly translated, so he may very well have said this in a much less salty manner. He might have been pissed that portugal didn't win but I don't think he was being salty at the icelandic fans, I think he was genuinely impressed with their show.
I understand his frustration, he's right in that iceland had very few chances and portugal had a lot. It's on portugal for not converting more of those chances though and the 1:1 happened because of a huge hole in P's defense. Can't fault iceland for parking the bus to save the 1:1. If he did shittalk the iceland players after the game that's pretty dumb but I do think he's too good of a football player to pin everything on bad luck and not learn from this game. Next game portugal's play will be more coordinated and the defense more solid hopefully.

idk what your problem is but can you just shut up? I haven't said anything remotely controversial, go be an ass to someone else.

I mean you can hate all you want but you're only lying to yourself if you can say with a straight face Portugal didn't look superior through most of the game.

We wasted a lot of opportunities but merit as well to Iceland goalkeeper which played amazing and literally kept them in the game.
