basically the way i do it is i distract myself with some videogames, television, or exercise. if you are weak willed when it comes to food lying around, constantly thinking about it is a great way to eat it all early

Best way to stop eating is eating actual food and not shit tier fastfood or other shitty preprocessed food. Learn to cook proper meals.
And no, living of fucking crackers and some tuna is not the best way. Enjoy your malnutrion.

God damnit why are poeple so god damn retarded when it comes to food

Before and after meals, drink a glass of water. You'll be more full than usual and also full for longer, but the water helps your digestion. Also drinking a lot of water feels really nice, you'll feel much cleaner and your skin will become less greasy.
Don't try to stop yourself from eating at all though because that will only make you have binging sprees. Just eat healthy.

Not sure what your goals are, but it should probably be less about not eating and more about making healthier food choices. Don't buy snack food or junk food. Learn to cook if you don't know how, and buy healthier stuff. As a general rule, non-crap food will keep you full longer. Set a routine with your meals, and don't eat after a certain time in the day. (I try to avoid eating after 8 pm.) Like people said, distract yourself with other activities. Ultimately, though, it's about you finding the willpower to follow self-set rules.

If you're trying to lose weight and you drink often, try to cut back on that too.

i love how every now and then in this sub there's these threads for the most obvious cliche things like "how to stop playing videogames, how to sleep, how to get over crush, how to stop eating"

like srs, are you guys expecting that some dude shows up and gives you this magical-unforeseen mind-boggling solution like jumping with one leg whilst singing a lemon jelly songg and them BAM, you don't crave for video games anymore, you sleep at the right time, you get over your teenage-melodramatic crush and you start eating regularly like a normal person.

you already know the best way to stop eating, you just don't have the guts enough to start doing what you're suppose to and i guess you need some false internet self-confirmation/self-assurance

anything people said like "stop eating junk food, don't go to fast food or for snacks just prepare your own health meals, get yourself distracted, drink water, etc"...you already know. every time you eat something and feel guilty about it you tell yourself in your mind "this isn't what i should be doing" yet you keep doing and it infuriates me that you think making a thread in teamfortress.tv about it will give you the confidence and self-respect and balls that you lack of

gonna get downvote because people have to be nice to others in this forum and pat on their heads instead of telling the plain truth but i had to say.

For drinks, drink vodka. When out, eat a steak.

Eating meat will leave you more satisfied. Anything with carbs tend to go through your body really really quick. Drink alot of water, many times you're probably just thirsty. Take really small steps but try to keep your calories below 2k(major key) on each step. I got really good at estimating calories of food and calories burned in the past couple years so ymmv.

But if you wanna go full yolo, you can try the keto diet. I did it for a year and it taught me alot about how hunger works in bodies in relation to myself. It made the transition back to a normal diet really easy after the full year.

tl;dr eat meat, whatever you want, just keep it under 2k or whatever your BMR is.

There's nothing wrong with eating alot, as long as it's good food. If you want to lose weight then just make sure to have a caloric deficit (more burned than consumed), which can be achieved more easily with exercise.

Your cravings might just be thirst too.

eee(usually some crackers and tuna)

The important result of going on a diet shouldn't be losing weight, but teaching yourself how to live a healthier life in general. Weight loss is just a side effect. If you constantly fluctuate between being on crash diets (maybe I'm misinterpreting 'crackers and tuna', but that's what it sounds like) and just eating whatever you can get your hands on, you'll never feel good about your eating habits. I realize that isn't what you're asking about, but the root of impulse control issues is usually people setting unrealistic expectations for themselves or making unrealistic plans to meet them.

Calculate your daily energy requirements (there are online calculators for this) and aim for a daily deficit of about 500 kcal. As echoed by others above, learn how to cook - you don't need to aim for a Guide Michelin star, but knowing how to make a good salad, sandwich or stew goes a long way. If you're having trouble with indulging in unhealthy stuff while you're out, prepare something tasty and easily portable at home (nuts, fruit, maybe a sandwich) and when you're craving food, just go for that.

Also, exercising is obviously a good idea, not entirely because it helps you lose weight, but because cardio exercise has immense health benefits.

My only rule is not to buy snacks, sweets or sodas ever, because If I don't have them at home I'm not even tempted.

I do like a good wine with my meals once in a while. Other than that I cook all my own meals and it works out pretty good. Allows me to keep in shape and gives me some margin to get absolutely hammered on weekends, win-win I would say.

This is the way. If the only way you're going to succeed is by limiting food in your presence then you will collapse in situations when it can't be avoided. It is not sustainable and you will fail eventually. You need to develop the willpower to eat what you said you were going to eat even while in abundance.
