if you dont want to get a mentor, rewatch your demos and every time you do something, think "why did I do that" if you dont have a good reason, dont do it anymore

Review your own demos, other players/team's demos. Get a feel for how aggressive you can be in certain situations, when to fall back, when to spam, avoiding damage. It's so hard to just say one, two, three or even more things for you to do - just play really.

b4nny has an excellent stream where he does a lot of demo reviews and has a fantastic insight to the game. Go check out some of his vods or watch him some time

There are plenty of other resources out there for you. Combine them with playing and over time you will improve

Don't exclusively try to acquire gamesense for the class you play. The more understanding you have of the classes and things around you the better your decision making will be as a whole.

honestly I find that watching some casts of high level games and actually really concentrating on the movements and timings of the players helps

You mentioned that you're not improving with lobbies. Try out tf2pug.me (although you might get fatkidded at first) and inhouse pugs, those generally have a higher level of skill and tend to be taken more seriously. As others have said though, the best way to improve your gamesense is to search for and find a team and scrim with them

As Fire said, this is important. Typically, you acquire good gamesense as a whole, but don't try to specifically work on gamesense for just one class.

I think most people who have bad gamesense are people who have a really awful understanding of their surroundings and environment. They don't check around them all that much, tunnel vision hard, are oblivious to a lot of simple things, and have a difficult time anticipating certain plays that the opponent(s) can possibly do. A lot of this can be obtained by playing pugs/scrims/matches and reviewing your own demos. You won't get good gamesense in a day, but it's very achievable for most people.

What i do as roamer/pocket is just load up the map on a local server and play around on it. I try to find strong places to stand, various jumps, hiding spots, spam angles, etc. Another thing to remember as roamer is to NEVER jump/push from the same spot twice. Learning jumps like the window jump onto ramp on snakewater will let you do this even more effectively

think about why you died after every death, try to recognize patterns and not make the same mistake over and over

I am a fat kid.
I really think a lot of this isn't really a complete gamesense issue, but its also a confidence issue. I've never had any confidence in myself, and the one time I did have confidence I was a decent pocket. This is why I a lot of the time play roamer, because having a team on your back makes you need even more confidence. I don't think I should go to tf2pug.me at this stage, because being fatkidded in a place with better players is probably the worst thing for me. Some of the people in lobbies that dominate me on leveled playing fields are people that I can go 20-10 with consistently with in MGE, which is another reason I think my mentality is my problem.

play pugs/dm/scrims/matches instead of mge because it sounds like you play it too much and it probably puts you in a DM focused mentality (instead of focusing on the strategy of the game which is what you want). Like some newer roamers (such as a certain individual whose name rhymes with Leon), you may also think that you need to consistently make huge plays, win 1v1s on flank, etc. Though this is clearly more fun than simply playing on flank and taking smart fights (2v1s and such), it can often get you killed and will screw over the rest of your team. The main priorities should be making sure nobody gets in through flank and forcing the enemy medic when they are pushing with advantage.
Watching demos of better players is never a bad idea, but learning from your own mistakes is sometimes easier to wrap your head around. It's definitely a good idea to ask yourself why you did something and if you die, what mistakes you made.
