Holy shit I hope custom games will be like warcraft 3 had, I might actually play this game if that happens.

a ton of the old wc3 custom maps are already being remade in dota 2. i know pudge wars, warlocks, and some td maps are already done. this update just makes it way easier to play them (not to mention workshop tools that are currently in the game are in beta).

The streaming part is really good, being able to watch twitch in game with all the additional information is going to be awesome, not only that but having steams own streaming platform built in is also awesome and could again push some tournament organisers to using it either solely or in conjunction with twitch, these new streaming options are really going to be forcing some movement from twitch's end as well.

if what i think is right, something similar is going to happen to tf2, maybe closer to the end of 2015, that will bring mm and pretty much the same stuff dota 2 gets to tf2

SchweppesI wonder if CSGO and maybe tf2 is going to get some love as well

doesn't csgo have already too much love?

They've already stated they planned to release mid 2015 or later (valve time). Based on their release schedule it's going to be on time.

also the reason they didn't hold any custom game modes for winter/spring like they have in the past; they wanted to focus on source 2.

kirbytf2 when? :(

Pretty sure the TF2 team said something about a Source 2 port not happening anytime soon.

Hope they at least give us that new version of Hammer relatively soon too, especially since we finally got the maps workshop we've always wanted.

The new version of source engine does not seem to use BSP brushes to construct the basic geometry of the level- instead they use meshes from what I've seen. You can actually use the new hammer (it's under dota2 beta) to start making any new map geometry you want but whatever you make is not going to be backwards compatible with the current source engine. I'm not sure how they're gonna transition maps to source2...that's probably the most painful part. dota2 is an easy candidate to move to source2 first because there's really no bsp maps to worry about.

For those of you who live and love Team Fortress 2, don't worry - the standalone SFM you know and love isn't going away, and it's still the best place to create shorts in the Team Fortress universe. It will also continue to have the workshop with the greatest variety of contributions, and remain the best place to create shorts in all the other universes we've released DLC packs for - including Day Of Defeat, Blade Symphony, Portal, Black Mesa, Left 4 Dead, Dino D-Day, and The Stanley Parable.

Saw this on Source Filmmaker's official blog regarding SFM2 - which at this point, basically looks like it runs on DOTA 2 rather than being a standalone sort of thing; SFM currently runs on an old version of TF2. I'm wondering if this holds true to how they're not gonna port TF2 to Source 2 yet, if at all.

Dota players are so lucky, the entire update looks absolutely amazing, I wish I didn't actually hate mobas with a passion.

Yeah, like when SFM crashes when you load badlands for example which has been a bug for like over 15 months.
