Apperently if you go through the loadout system you can still see your backpack, just the backpack button itself or keybind will crash your game.

It's a custom HUD thing. They edited the backpack a fair amount to include the NEW labels. I just fixed it quickly on my HUD and now it's loading fine.

A big thing to look out for on this update:

Traders: be aware of a bug where item effects will not show up with unusuals on the Steam Community (including the Steam trading interface). Example: http://steamcommunity.com/id/wickedplayer494/inventory/#440_2_1745164352[1]
Third-party backpack viewers (such as TF2items.com, backpack.tf, etc) are not affected, sole exception being TF2B.

Unusuals do not show their effect names right now, so be careful you don't get scammed. Another example: https://i.imgur.com/w13ds76.jpg
