All you people who have used a 120+ hz and a 60 hz. Can you please be completely honest, and tell me if you have actually improved? I have some money to spend, but I'm not completely sure that I should spend benjamins on these monitors. Thanks.

My benq xl2411t died a week ago so i was forced to play with an old acer one with 16ms input lag, after the replacement arrived it was like an eye candy really. Its true what people say concerning if you've played with a 120hz once you never want to use 60hz again

Hey, I've been saving for a 120 or 144 Hz monitor for a while now, and have more or less arrived at a point where I'd be able to afford one. Between reviews and price comparisons I've found a few that seem appealing to me so far:

- BenQ XL2411Z
- Asus VG248QE
- Iiyama ProLite GB2488HSU-B1
- Philips Brilliance 242G5DJEB

I'm a bit at a loss which one of these to get, though. Judging by the reviews I read I think the Iiyama one would have my preference, but I'm not entirely sure if that's rational. Would any of you know of any reasons that would make any one of these better or worse than the others?

Also, I don't always have 120+ fps, I even dip to 50ish on occasion, but that's while watching a stream on a hectic pub on snowy maps. Most of the time I do have 120+ fps. Would you say it's worthwile to even get one of these rather expensive monitors with this in mind?

I am looking into lightboost the asus 144hz, and I successfully lightboosted it, with this here

But after I lightboosted, (monitor got relatively darker with the lightboost 120hz vs nonlightboost 144hz) I opened up my tf2 client, and I alt tabbed to it and it took about a 5 second period of blackness and then tf2 opened up, much brighter than before, (the lightboost disabled for some reason while the tf2 application is opened) I tried using windowed no boarder instead of full screen that that did the same thing. Anyone have any experience with this? Anyone have any ideas of a fix? Some help would really be appreciated because I want to compare game play with lightboost 120hz and normal 144hz.

Do you have -refresh 120 in the launch options?
(I'm not sure if that will work, but that's what I have and LightBoost doesn't get disabled when I run TF2)

If you have the money for a 120hz+ monitor you really should buy one. I'm not gonna go on about why as there are pages of that shit,they are such a good upgrade its silly not to get one.

I got that exact monitor about 6 hours ago. Suddenly people talking about scout saying it's 'clicking on people' made a lot more sense. Going from 60 to 144 Hz had even more impact than I expected. However, though I'd read about the colors not being great on this monitor, they were also worse than I expected, but by messing about with settings I got to a fairly agreeable quality in the end, and perhaps will do even more so in the future.

All in all I'm amazed by how much better 120hz+ is, and the gray colors seem like a small price to pay for that.

Got it, Firmware was outdated though (V1 instead of V2, which newer monitors of that type have pre-installed). What it does is it does not work with the blurbusters lightboost, so you are stuck to your default settings which not always reduce all the motionblur in the game.

With Quintosh, giving me an hour and a half of his life, managed to update it to Firmware V2, which works with the lightboosting software (the monitor was manufactured in January, that's why V1). It helped me avoid following problems:
- giving it to BenQ and having them install it, which would take 2 weeks at least
- paying additional money for hardware to install it

All I can say: 120/144hz give massive advantage if your PC can support it. MGE should be played on same settings, because even if you are a scrub like myself, you can suddenly track and get all the meatshots and airshots.

Be sure to check the date of manufacturing of BenQ XL2411Z model, it can save you a lot of hassle.

i'm thinking about buying the asus vg248qe, but i'm not sure if i need a new graphics card or not, i pretty much constantly get 180 fps in tf2 but i wasn't sure about compatibility issues since my graphics card is so old, it's a radeon 6450.

I'm torn between the XL2420Z and the XL2411Z/VG248QE... Does anyone know what gives the 2420Z the price increase? The other 2 are the same price so that's also a toss up.

120Hz Lightboost = Significantly Less Blur, worse colors and very dim compared to the others.

I hadnt seen this one before, it has really low input lag and response time and is cheap but doesnt have lightboost afaik.

this aoc monitor has around 13ms of input lag (according to pcmonitors.info measurements)

there is more ghosting, less colors, way more motion blur and nothing to try remove motion blur
is cheap. 120hz to 140hz is mandatory for gaming. and the difference between than is like 0(totally placebo, i can say testing both)

I prefer to stay on 120hz with a trick enabled in resolution to remove some ghosting, that way is better than using my 144hz on 2720Z. Thats an example, i feel noooothing different using 120 or 140.
But 60hz-75hz to 120hz is HOLYFUCKchange.

So, AOC is big no. AOC is not a gaming brand, its for other kind of consumers.
Also not everything from gaming brands is the best, but for monitor it is.

I am tempted to buy myself a BENQ XL 2420 Z.I kind of want it but it is quite pricy . I'm currently using a 60 hz monitor which is working just fine.
