Short hair, G400 going strong for a year.

Am I the only one who doesn't have problem with the G400 chord? I've even travelled with it packed in a plastic bag thrown in a suitcase with no regards to its safety and nothing happened.

I had the same g5 for six years, had long hair for the first four. That broke and I got a g400 that died after about a month of use with short hair. Replacement g400s is still going strong.

toothWhat about mouse sensitivity? Does a lower sensitivity play a factor in how fast your G400 dies because you physically move your mouse more, putting more stress on the part of the cable coming out of the mouse?

I doubt it. I've been playing with a 32" for 360 in CS for over 4 years, and I've only broken one g400. I've found that so long as I keep the cable loose, no problems arise.

I've had short to medium hair in the time I've had my G400 (which I got in 2011 after my MX518 died after like 6 years of constant use), and it's still going strong.

I do run it through a lock to keep the cord down (ghetto mouse bungee), because I hate having it constantly drag against the edge of the desk. Maybe that's why it never broke?

Also I have carpet almost everywhere in the house.

i think the carpet thing isn't that big of a deal because it's so far away from your mouse. i think it's more about things that are close to your mouse like your hair, or maybe animals that like to hang around your desk? or maybe static electricity coming from the glass on your crt monitor?

Yeah, I don't think it is static as much as it is about how often the cord is rubbing against your desk. A good example is myself. I had my old desk where I put duct tape where the mouse was hitting and it worked fine for 2+ years with two cats and two dogs (One being a Siberian Husky). I recently got a new desk from my neighbor about two months ago and never put new tape down, and the mouse cord died last night :(

my hair is usually short and I've had about 3 or 4 g400 mice die on me. All were replaced for free and I was sent a g400s the last time.

Btw, I use one of these on the edge of my desk to relieve tension on my mouse & keyboard cord. Might be why my mouse has lasted so long.
