can any math genius solve this question im going crazy after an hour of trying it

lim as x approaches infinity of this crazy function: [x^10) + 3x^9]^(1/10) - x

and yes i did wolfram alpha that shit and I still dont get it

I'm pretty sure the way to get the solution is to take the taylor series expansion, and then plug in infinity for x, which removes all the terms except 3/10.

It's been far too long since I've taken calc 2 to remember exactly.

Turn this into a fraction
A = [x(x^10 + 3x^9)^(1/10) - x^2] / [x]

Limit of this as x goes to infinity is undefined, so use L'Hopital. If you're unfamiliar, it basically says if the limit of some fraction is undefined, take the derivative of the top and bottom instead

Just rearranging some stuff

Definitely not, Engineering is FUN!! Math is fucking boring though. I love my engineering classes that use math in them(read: all), but classes that are purely math are very boring. Only things three things to take out of calc that I use for engineering is diff. eq., derivatives (sometimes), and integrals (sometimes). I've only mainly used diff eq though

I personally am not a physics major, but I tutor/help them with some of their math, and quantum mechanics, optics, Pretty much any astronomy involving flight patterns, etc etc all use quite a bit of calc. Or atleast their work, and text books within said fields utilize calculus.

Depends what kind of engineering you want to got into, some degrees have more math courses than others (like electrical engineering mentioned above), but the one I'm in (2nd year computer engineering student) isn't too bad. I only failed calc 2 because I quite literally did nothing.

Also fuck taylor expansions

EDIT: The weird thing is that it doesn't seem like I'm really using all the math that I'm learning at school for what computer/programming classes I have now. Maybe it's only for later.
