All came down to one match of Gullywash where both teams weren't willing to give up more than a player :(

Yea, this whole situation has been handled extremely poorly. One gullywash game accompanied with horribly exaggerated casting and bashing of the item and everyone is up in arms about an item that we have just barely began to experiment with and how it is the worst thing to ever happen to TF2. Apparently everyone forgot that gullywash is a shit map that tends to have games like the ones everyone is so upset about.

Then, Killing completely throws the established way of deciding weapon bans out the window and makes up the ban for himself. Killing would have been well within his rights to ban it after it was changed initially in S14 and then a re-evaluation should have happened in the offseason before S15. Instead this whole situation is in shambles and everyone is having a heart attack over a weapon that honestly could have added a lot to this game if we had reacted with calmer minds.

i hope the irony of the QF being banned due in large part (imo) because of its inclusion in S14 isn't lost on everyone.

TLRI've decided that it's probably for the best that quick fix is banned, but the reaction to it on the forums has been laughable. It's almost like you guys haven't seen a gullywash stalemate (go back and watch almost any gullywash match on lan between even teams).

I actually did go back and watch the worst one of the bunch, the Mixup v. HRG one. That one was just simply two teams who tried doing what they always did before for 45 minutes before somebody figured out that beating your head against the wall wasn't very conductive to capping last. And thus the Conch play was born, by the way that was Quick-fix on Quick-fix too.

SalamancerValve does care, though. They cared enough to update the weapon because it was completely unused. That was just step one - now we should be collecting feedback on how they can further refine or revamp the weapons.

Where's feedback going to come from now though? Because I'm sorry but general consensus seems to be QF simply hasn't been used enough, teams don't have enough experience with it yet. But nobody is going to seriously invest some time into playing with it anymore, there's just no incentive. So unfortunately the feedback is going to be imo too theoretical to be worth much

Again, that it's the best medigun to mid etc. is all true, but jumping to the conclusion that means it inevitably leads to a worse game and HAS to be changed based on so little practical experience is pretty bold

How about you just pre-record one 6s game for every map using the default classes, loadouts and strats, with results following normal distribution and then just playback and re-cast those every time so you'll never have to deal with those nasty surprises again

I personally think it should be banned, but the decision should be left up to the players like it has been historically. Admins unilaterally making decisions (at least in this case) isn't the way it should be done.

I'm dissapointed that it's banned. I was hoping a lot of new strategies and interesting changes would come as a result of it being viable now.

Unfortunately it does seem a bit OP as far as healing and buffing were concerned. Maybe if the buff went at half the speed of the normal Medigun buff it would balance out. I dunno.

I would at least liked to have seen a vote before it got banned outright without the community's input.

There were like 20 thread on this forum on why the quick fix should be banned. I didn't see any of the people complaining about the ban speaking up earlier. You had to have seen something like this coming. Why would you not speak up to defend the quick fix before it would get banned?

Also killing was at the LAN. I'm assuming he heard what the players at the event thought of the quick fix? Did they not have any influence?

A couple of people spoke up in defense of it but they got downfragged and were made fun of

now that the season is over its banned? this is really confusing because what if valve patches the qf mid s15, does it get thrown back in the same way it was for s14?

Because giving the choice to a division of the league that loves the quick fix when the rest of the league seems to not want it is totally a good idea. Make it a league wide poll like map votes imo.

Ya the 3000+ people watching a biased cast had nothing to do with this at all.

besides the fact that there were people posting, it just happened that the hate bandwagon was far more vocal. i don't get why you really need dozens of people to publicly defend it on the forums. nobody saw this ban coming, especially so far away from the next season. I was waiting on the invite teams to play with the QF more and learn the viable strategies and counters instead of listening to the bandwagon of, honestly, people I have never heard of.

I'll take that blame, I've been trying to make a video against a ban the past couple of days. Just let stupid stuff distract me.

They don't have minds of their own to make judgements? don't put the blame on the casters. People should be able to make their own decisions.

10:06 PM - PYYYOUR: FREEH THE QUICK FIX 2013!

In all seriousness though, I'm not sure I agree with the choice to ban the Quick Fix for Season 15, and I would like more transparency or insights into how the decision was made and who ultimately contributed to the decision.

As far as the actual decision goes, I am indifferent. A lot of people are upset about it, a lot of people are happy, but here's the facts:

1. The ruling would apply to ESEA EU Season 1. European TF2 players who aren't used to the QF would have to get used to it quickly, and it would completely change their game as it currently stands.
2. QF is currently stronger than the Medigun.
3. I'm really sorry about what I said during the ESEA LAN cast. I didn't mean to influence the community's decision regarding weapon bans, and criticizing the game in that way wasn't positively contributing towards the casting of that particular match or the LAN overall.

Still, I think that the discussion that occurred on these forums would have occurred whether Blank and I said something or not...so to pin the ban on us is a bit unfair.

The weapon does need some more time to marinate with the TF2 communities around the world, however. I'm glad that it was allowed this season/LAN, as we would have never seen just how far these teams would take it without ESEA's (temporary) endorsement. This will likely again stir up some conversation about how we as a community handle weapon bans and on what grounds we ban weapons.

I'm all for the weapon as long as it keeps the game flowing and moving. If it's going to degenerate into heavy play then everyone will be upset, but what we saw in the grand finals on Sunday was great, exciting gameplay from both teams using the Quick Fix. I have no doubt that if the QF was unbanned we would continue to see the metagame develop into a positive experience.

If nothing else, the Quick Fix increases the skill cap for Medics, and that can only do good things for the game. While I think that we have to take measures to defend the 6v6 game as it currently stands for both the gameplay experience and the viewership experience, I'd hope that we could learn to incorporate the Quick Fix in the long run.
