quad hits 12/12 shots on scouts, so be more like quad. or play a lot of heavy to train your tracking. heres a tutorial:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FUwAENrrAg

play quake to develop tracking, then learn how and when to use the pistol. scattergun is kinda good so sometimes it is better to just reload one shot than switch to pistol

dont play quake, practicing lg on shit that moves in long predictable strafes doesnt help with using a gun with random spread against the janky hitboxes of scouts in tf2

just run around like an idiot with pistol in dm, really the only thing you can do

I do 2 things to improve my pistol aim. The first is in tr_walkway, I stand in the middle of the top of the hill, and just track everything with your pistol. It'll help smooth out your aiming a lot. Second thing I do, calm the hell down. When you are playing scout in general, trying and notice when you switch shots and get really tense. Just stop doing that and your tracking will be way better.

With the pistol you kinda just have to get used to patterns too. When you can tell how the opponent is gonna move you can decide how many shots to shoot before re-adjusting.

why would you play another game (ex quake) to get good at tf2 when you can just practice it in tf2?

the pistol is really unreliable. one minute you could be tracking perfectly and missing almost every pistol shot, and the next your track could be really shitty but still hit a lot.

can we just legalize the cleaver so we can throw 90 damage projectiles instead of having to pray that the mighty pistol gods allow some of our bullets to shoot straight

I think the spread of the pistol is the same as the scattergun (the diameter)

From watching quad's videos it seems like he tries to shoot kind of in front of them by anticipating their movement and letting them move into the hit. Seems illogical for hitscan but when you factor in your own reaction time it sort of lines up. That's my read anyhow.

Kapowwwhy would you play another game (ex quake) to get good at tf2 when you can just practice it in tf2?

Playing TF2 for hours can be mentally taxing and can work against what you're trying to accomplish, imo.

I liked playing CS or Quake to help with my aim, playing CS really helped with my flick-aiming. Clicking on heads mang.

It's just something you develop over practicing. You can't teach someone to be better at clicking on people, it's something that they just need to practice. No shortcuts.

Minimize input lag
Make sure your mouse isn't shit
then practice like everyone else says
once you get used to it you'll have a good feeling for its spread and know what ranges it's good against what classes at
whatever you do don't practice pistol with the SMG its spread is like a million times tighter than the pistol

Lights_I liked playing CS or Quake to help with my aim, playing CS really helped with my flick-aiming. Clicking on heads mang.

Flick aiming is one thing, it's muscle memory that's the same in every game if you use the same sens. Still no advantage to doing it in another game. Pistol is 100% tracking which is all about prediction. Practicing it in another game where movement is different than tf2 is not going to be as useful as actually practicing with the pistol.

Basically the pistol is random as fuck outside a certain range, it's similar to heavy's cone of fire. If you are at medium/close range it is fairly reliable if your tracking doesn't suck dick like mine. However even at medium or close range feel free to blame the weapon as it's unlikely anyone will ever call you out on it.
