What's going to happen to ESEA S14?

Who's not playing because of this bitcoin incident? Are any teams dropping out? What if ESEA gets in major trouble and has to shut down?

As long as I'm being paid by them to write for ESEA, I'm still playing. Once that stops, I'm probably not playing on ESEA anymore.

I don't think anything will happen and this will all blow over soon enough. In the event that it doesn't, it might be an idea to renew those talks with IPL or start talks with other leagues just in case...you never know you might get an awesome deal that you go for even if esea doesn't crumble :)

Nothing will happen, because small, weak people need to suckle on the teats of stronger men to define their world. Please move this thread to 'off-topic' so we can forget it sooner and get more of that nourishing man-juice.

You know good and well you and everyone you know who plays competitive tf2 are going to pay their fees and premium(which I think is bullshit) and play.

Well yeah, I'm still going to play, hopefully mostly everyone that intended on playing will too. Looks like the CS community took it really hard, a handful of them vowed to not play this season.

As much as I'd like to see CEVO come up and do something (and with the addition of highlander, as well as this and the shit that UGC's getting, it certainly has the potential to go huge), let's face it, they don't have the resources to pull off what the current leagues can. They're going to need a few seasons to reach ESEA size, even with a mass exodus this season, they can't muster up the size of prize pool that ESEA can, and I doubt that arranging a LAN for next season can be done on a whim. It's possible, but for now, people are going to stick with ESEA until someone can actually compete with their resources.

It's the only NA league with good competition and a website that doesn't make me want to projectile vomit, so unless everyone else decides to leave, I'll continue playing.

Nothing about Tip of the Hats OR LAN, but ESEA's fuckup gets front page on TF2's news section.
Way to fucking support TF2 as an eSport, Valve. We'll definitely get new players into comp this way for sure.
Unbelievable.

The problem is that the news section from Steam also takes community news. Any official news would be posted on TeamFortress.com

I'm 90% sure Valve has it set so related news articles on certain websites automatically get posted there. (See 'PC Gamer' under the title.)

The news function on Steam aggregates news from several select sites. It is completely automatic and not managed by anyone.

Calm down.

everyone is so damn butt hurt lol
im pretty sure 99% of the tf2 players weren't even effected and they are being so critical.
Not everyone that works for esea is scummy like this... The people who were responsible should be punished, but that doesn't mean that everyone on the staff is on it.
I'm pretty sure torbull is upset and will take action where needed and everything will be back to normal in a week.

Everyone has to calm down and stop band wagoning so hard

When I found out I wasn't even mad; I thought it was hilarious

What does ESEA do for TF2 other than host a few LANs per year? If the community has to reach into it's own wallet just to help teams cover their expenses for these LANs, I think the prize pot is a moot point.

I think it's going to come down to what the invite players decide to do. Even without this bitcoin fiasco, if HRG and mix^ decided to just go play in CEVO or some other league, there would be an exodus of TF2 players following within a fairly short amount of time. Players play TF2 for the competition, and so they'll play where ever the best competition is.

Tip of the Hats was proof that this community is not impotent without ESEA. It's just a matter of having clear goals.
