Recently just finished End Zone by Don Delillo... It's prose captures the vibe of being in the desert playing football (which is basically what the book is if you want to reduce it to its most basic premise). I'd best describe it as a bunch of guys finding themselves. One character, Anton Goldberg, was compellingly written with his internalized antisemitism. Honestly, I thought more about him than the main character, Gary.

Recently got the itch to re-read my favourite novel so I bought a copy of Of Mice And Men again. Also been learning Dutch so I now have a copy of Muizen En Mensen to boot. I don't really like reading fiction but this is the only novel that does it for me. Reading it in a language I barely understand still sends me into that lush, tranquil state of mind.

Not from my country but I own both "Made in Taiwan" by Clarrisa Wei and "The Food of Sichuan" by Fuchsia Dunlop and I think they are a lot of fun. Can't say I've cooked much from them lol but I like to just read them once in a while. I also picked up "Rasachandrika" when I was in India and it's very interesting. I haven't really made anything from this too but it's apparently a classic.
