Stupid question, but what’s up with prize money for last season? I only ask because I see earnings not posted.

BrockStupid question, but what’s up with prize money for last season? I only ask because I see earnings not posted.

We're going to be posting a financials article soon that'll include earnings + all the finances that went into LAN, I'll post that to this thread as well when it goes out.

For clarification, the only added fees for this season are the "LAN Sustainability Support". All of this goes directly to help fund LANs.

It is a sustainability fund to make it sustainable for all parties involved. This allows us to increase the prize pool for the LAN season and allow players attending to at least break even, cover some of the costs for our staff to directly come to the venue and help out, and most importantly -- cover the costs for the venue rental and any production equipment.

We want to continue hosting a LAN(s) each year, and the funds allow the league to have the full resources to do so.

I’m assuming by the end this week maybe? I feel like the hl cup had a factor, but in the end it feels a little silly factoring both work loads between two different sets of admins…

The stuff at the end of the map confirmation articles are the only things from the surveys that get posted judging by the last few seasons. I wish there would be a separate article like HL does that shows the results for the questions division by division, but they didn't get one last season either. Maybe they could just make the spreadsheet available somewhere without the personal info and free responses if the articles are too much work to write.

I can publish the results, I don't think I want to do a full article so instead I'll link them on the banner that's usually on top the site (under the "interested in helping out the staff" thing). The only thing I won't include will be the individual text responses.

dont care thaaat much but 33% of people who want something shouldnt win a poll over 41% of people who don't (Option 2 and 4). b4nny config is good too but I do like having halftimes and the traditional long match format and most invite leaders agreed when this topic came up. Also if we're gonna have polls for like only 3 or 4 items, i think the backup should be considered as one of them, but i guess people have to abuse it first before anyone will care

We're only implementing the config in invite and potentially advanced for a couple reasons

1. We communicate pretty directly with Invite, so in our pre-season meeting we could directly ask all the team leaders if they would be down to try out the config this season in invite. We wanted to ask this in direct response to responses 3 and 4, as having it in invite matches ensures both that it gets introduced to the community at large via RGL's streams, and that it gets more testing (this time in a formalized league setting). A large majority of the invite teams present were in favor of testing the config, so we're going to test it this season. If people end up hating it, we're more than happy to revert the decision, however we just wanted an opportunity to see more testing.

As a side note, our general thought process with invite in recent seasons was to use the flexibility of the div to do light testing in the league format. This allowed us to test out badlands and granary again, and see how both of those maps function in a modern map pool. We extended this type of testing to advanced, and it was looked upon favorably (at least according to survey feedback).

2. We're extending this option to advanced moving forward, as we have gotten good feedback when we treat advanced like a "mini invite". This includes letting them pick their own map pool, pick/ban maps instead of weekly maps, and only lightly restricting the div to try to mirror invites complete lack of restrictions. When we send them the survey to vote on their map pool, an option to opt into the progressive ruleset will be present as well, and they can vote on it.

We totally understand the trade off with half times and the traditional match formats that comes up when the progressive ruleset is used, but that is the purpose of implementing it on the top divs this season - to give people further options to see that trade off in action and see if they favor the new ruleset or the old one. Like I already mentioned, we can revert it if needed, but we are actively trying to give people as many opportunities to test things as possible
