FAQs
Q: What region is this cup focused on?
A: This is an EU focused event but teams are welcome to join from other regions however servers will be EU-based unless both teams agree otherwise before a match.

Q: Why is the prize pool in dollars?
A: DreamHack’s sponsorship for the prize pool is being provided in US Dollars (USD).

Q: What servers are being used for the event?
A: Teams decide together which server to play the match on. Server rentals from serveme.tf/ are recommended. Please ensure the correct config/whitelist is used. If your match is to be casted live on twitch.tv/dreamhack, the server details will be provided to you by the tournament administrators.

Q: What config/whitelist is being used?
A: All matches are to be played with the 6v6 Season 37 version of the ETF2L config and the latest version of the ETF2L item whitelist. Golden cap rounds have a different ruleset (see rule 6.3 on Toornament).

Q: How are golden cap rounds played?
A: Golden cap is used for all matches in playoffs. Golden cap has a 10 minutes time limit. If no team has captured the last point from the enemy team by 10 minutes the team holding mid wins the golden cap round.

Q: Will this tournament be using the new plug-ins from ETF2L S37?
A: Yes, full details of the plug-ins used can be found on the ETF2L website. If, however, there is a significant amount of negative feedback or a wish to revert those changes becomes apparent we would be open to adapting the rules to accommodate.

Q: Are mercs (unrostered players) allowed?
A: If opponents agree, teams are allowed to use a maximum of 2 mercs who are not on the Toornament roster. (rule 3.4)

Q: Why can't I have more than 6 players rostered?
A: We have limited the main roster size to 6 as any prize payout will be sent to each individual player. By limiting this to 6, we can ensure fair payouts to the primary players.

Q: Will we need to check in at the start of the tournament?
A: All teams will need to "check-in" on Toornament on the morning of November 14th prior to the tournament commencing otherwise you may risk disqualification.

Q: How do we communicate with the tournament administrators and other teams?
A: The EssentialsTF Discord MUST be used for all tournament information and communication. https://essentials.tf/discord.

Q: I want to help out with the event production! How do I contact you?
A: Please contact ArchRhythm#1312 on Discord or email adam.lloyd@essentials.tf.

Q: Can I get a medal by donating?
A: Medals will only be distributed to players in the cup and the staff working on the cup. We cannot accept donations for medals.

* Due to potential conflicts in how KOTH maps affect scoring, we are interested in hearing your thoughts about substituting Product for a previously played map such as Reckoner.

It's not perfect but I think the best solution to this is to apply a 1.66 multiplier for KOTH rounds and round up. (3-0 = 5-0, 3-1 = 5-2, 3-2 = 5-3). It's better to keep the map pool same as ETF2L's than to change the map pool purely because KOTH leads to seeding issues. I don't see anything immediately wrong with the solution and it's definitely gonna be better than what's been happening at LANs for the past few years where you can't play KOTH in group stage if you don't wanna damage your seeding.

Also sick stuff looking forward to gaming 8)

With just over a week to go until signups close, get your teams ready ASAP not to miss out!

We'd like to remind all players that plan on playing in the tournament to read the rules carefully to understand what's expected of them during the event.

Also, as we've had a few international signups (which is great!) we'd like to remind everyone that this is an EU focused event and by signing up to this tournament you agree to play on European servers by default, unless your opponents agree otherwise.

On the topic of servers we'd also like to remind everyone that it's your responsibility to secure servers to play on, if you need to rent a server we recommend https://serveme.tf/, where you can rent a competitive server for free. If you need any help renting a server please let an Admin know and we can assist.

Finally, if you're new to competitive and this is your first tournament we'd like to recommend the following webpages to help you get up to speed with how competitive is played and how to give yourselves the best opportunity to do well and have fun!

The webpages are:
https://etf2l.org/new/
https://competitive.tf/
and https://newbie.tf/

All info on rules, signups and a helpful FAQ can be found at http://clash.tf/! We hope to see you in the tournament, GLHF!

DreamHack TF2 Community Clash is officially over. Congratulations to Ascent.NL and thank you to all the 72 teams who signed up for this event! Prizing and medals will be worked on over the coming days/weeks so I ask you to be patient. We will also work on getting VODs out as soon as reasonably possible (yes, we did save them this time).

Personally I want to give special thanks/shoutouts to:

  • ArchRhythm for holding down production for 9+ hours on both days;
  • Jon & Kirsty for all their behind-the-scenes work making this event happen;
  • Justin & Kyle from DreamHack and the DH brand as a whole for the opportunity to work with them;
  • Ridge, Sodium and Nash for being great Tournament Admins making my life a lot easier;
  • All the observers and talent who lent their time for the stream, both pre-recorded and live;
  • All the staff team, who without them this would never be possible;
  • All teams for (mostly) staying on time.

We at EssentialsTF hope you had a great event, as both a player and as a viewer. GGs!
