Once the bugs are fixed and the site is ready for full release, I had an idea for how a way to make elo "matter," and make RGL pugs more unique as compared to pug groups in the past. It would go like this:

1. The site releases. Everyone who has played, say, main and above is allowed to play captained pugs.
2. Everyone's elo is reset to 1000 or something.
3. The race begins! The first 6 players to reach 2400 elo "win" Season 1 of RGL pugs, and each receive a small prize (maybe keys).
4. Once 6 players have won, everyone's elo is reset back to 1000, and the race to 2400 begins again in a few days.

I think this would provide a fun way to make elo interactive, and to make the grind of pugs have some overarching meaning.

Placing a monetary incentive on winning and inflating your elo will undoubtedly lead to a toxic environment. I think you should play pugs to improve and most importantly have fun :))

Yeah, it was just one element to have the "winners" get some kind of prize. But the idea still stands even if there's no prize; splitting pugs into seasons based on an elo race could promote trying hard without sacrificing fun.

I like that these pugs have an elo system, but because everyone's elo has been manually set to begin with, elos might just float around the value they've been set at. Part of the fun of elo, I think, is starting from a baseline and gradually watching the number go up, and that's mostly where my idea was coming from.

> 1. Implement a test with a "Pre-ready" option, but you can't captain.

I feel there are times when players will add up, and either A: The pug notification doesn't make a noise (which should get looked into). or B, a player gets occupied with something (eg. Using the bathroom, eating food, etc)

The alternative or additional fix for this is increase the queue up time

> 2. A Elo Leaderboard -- separating 6s and HL

> 3.

loafe-chat on website so i can yap

Would love to see this, something similar to TF2c or PugChamp. If there's issue getting a live chat on the website, maybe working the "dedicated discord" route and having the chat their instead for the time being.

> 4.

loafe-on discord, please dont force us out of the voice chat post-pug until everyone has left voice

This or move both teams to a "post-pug" VC

> 5. An Alternative to the voice-line ready-up notification

IMO, I'm fine with it -- Gilbert Gottfried is the goat.

Though, from other streamers perspectives, they seem to differ. Some of them preferring a non-vocal one instead -- something similar to PugChamp's trumpet.

who is working on the design for the website? would be nice if we could get it a lot more professional looking, more fleshed out, like tf2center or how pugchamp was.

the website doesnt make noises unless ur tabbed into it, ive missed multiple pugs because of this (maybe this is an issue on my end?). also the ready up noise itself is pretty bad (the pug champ hl2 beep sound effect was perfect)

EDIT: also would be nice to see exactly how much elo we gain/lose in each pug

needs to be a cooldown on pugs after 1 of them ends. I've seen so many people miss a pug because the one they were in just ended and 1 insta started, giving no time for people to add up.

I know back when pugchamp was alive, there was a extension that allowed you to quickly see someone's current team, div, and other details directly on the add-up screen.- (somewhat how ELO is directly displayed)

Maybe also split the Elo board on someone's profile between two tabs, as one long list containing both HL and 6s makes the readability a bit odd.

Weekly update #3 is now live!
Note that updates may not always release on Sundays over the next month since I'm in the process of moving.

ADDED:
- Added active PUGs count to sidebar
- Elo adjustments now show as alerts
- Added score to active PUG cards
- Added 2 more dedicated servers to reach a total of 4
- Changed 6s cp config from scrim to "b4nny" config (now that we have enough servers where hogging one isn't a huge issue)
- Increased PUG auto-kill timeout from 60min to 100min to adjust for potential overtime
- Increased ready up time from 45sec to 60sec
- Increased player pick time from 45sec to 55sec
- Added check if user is discord verified during login
- Added discord voice channel called 'MOVE TO TEAM' that will automatically move you to your team voice channel upon joining
- Increased channel deletion delay from 1min to 5min or whenever all players leave
- Blu team will be moved to red team's voice channel after 30 seconds
FIXES:
- Fixed PUGs not showing on profiles for red players
- Fixed default member card avatars on 404s
- Fixed blu scores not properly updating
- Fixed lobby falsely saying there are enough players
- Fixed valid lobby not starting upon 2nd captain toggle

Not going to quote everyone, but we have plans to customize your experience, including different voice packs (feel free to send me ideas). A chat system is also currently in the works that would allow for easy moderation and cross-chat between discord and site. I am also working on distinguishing 6s and HL more as well.

JwOnce the bugs are fixed and the site is ready for full release, I had an idea for how a way to make elo "matter," and make RGL pugs more unique as compared to pug groups in the past. It would go like this:

I think this would provide a fun way to make elo interactive, and to make the grind of pugs have some overarching meaning.

We are likely going to implement an "XP" system separate from elo, similar to what faceit had iirc.

I think you could implement a captain cooldown some people just get it based on their inflated elo and can pick sub par teams repeatedly and also never get fatkidded

I second this idea, similar to PugChamp where if you lose a pug 5-0 in less than 15 minutes the captain of the team gets captain restricted, and the cooldown should get progressively longer too if they continue to pick awful teams

Also it seems there is a concern about the length of the pug due to the b4nny config (progressive ruleset), so I propose the idea of shortening the map timer from 30 minutes to 20 minutes that way it might help with the pugs potentially going 45+ minutes which has been happening quite often recently.

Smaller weekly update #4
- Fixed auth login stuff
- Increased post-pug voice time to deletion from 5min to 8min
- Fixed premature channel deletion before moving all of blu to red's voice
- Successfully moved the 2 Dallas servers to Chicago

Due to feedback from the community about b4nny config taking too long to play, we are currently working on reverting it back to the scrim config and adding a rule to break ties through who caps mid at the 30min.

i think the map voting system would be a good way to introduce some map testing

the only concern is that more often than not, we get all three of villa, reckoner, and sultry in the vote so maybe add a weight to the map-pool so maps in the active pool are more common?

the maps im personally interested in trying out are reintroducing badlands/prolands and entropy
