The fourth iteration of the RGL 6s season has hit playoffs, and this season will have more coverage than ever, so here's what you need to know!

Format

Invite, Div-1, and Div-2 are all using top four, double-elim brackets. Main is using a top eight single-elim bracket, while Intermediate, Amateur, and Newcomer will be played as top sixteen single-elim brackets. Playoffs matches are best-of-three

All brackets can be found on the "Matches" section of RGL's website, or on RGL's Challonge page.

Prize Pool

The prize pool totalling $12,384 will be distributed as follows:

  • Invite: 1st: $1,500 | 2nd: $1,200 | 3rd: $900 | 4th: $750 | 5-6th: $600 | Total: $5,550
  • Div-1: 1st: $450 | 2nd: $420 | 3rd: $390 | 4th: $360 | 5-7th: $330 | Total: $2,610
  • Div-2: 1st: $282 | 2nd: $264 | 3rd: $246 | 4th: $228 | 5-8th: $210 | Total: $1,860
  • Main: 1st: $204 | 2nd: $192 | 3rd: $180 | 4th: $168 | 5-8th: $156 | Total: $1,368
  • Intermediate: 1st: $138 | 2nd: $126 | 3rd: $114 | 4th: $102 | 5-8th: $90 | Total: $840

Casts

Official playoffs coverage will come on four main channels:

Any casts on these channels will be subject to RGL casting rules, so be sure to familiarize yourself with them if you aren't used to being casted to avoid any last minute penalties.

Previews

Need to get caught up? teamfortresstv has written playoffs preview articles for the Invite, Div-1, and Div-2 playoffs:

You can also check out the VOD of tftv's recent episode of Fully Charged, featuring virgil and SOOOOOAPYMEiSTER.

So, best of luck to all the teams in the running, and to those of you sitting it out, I hope to see you in Twitch chat!

i know it’s a pretty minute thing but i think it’s pretty goofy that DEAD LAST div 1 gets more prize money than coming first in div 2

I think higher divs getting more money just makes sense? Typically people prefer to sandbag and win than lose in a higher div so surely its good to give incentive

Not sure why this thread turned into a prize distribution debate (dead horse but RGL will probably never change it cause they want ~everyone~ to get prizes for some reason and not just top4) but I do find it funny that winning invite is now the same amount of money as ESEA had for winning IM because the prizes have been spread so thin

According to this article at least there's no scenario where a team playing in a lower div could win more money than a team playing in a higher div - do you mean that as net winnings (winnings minus league fee)? Is your comment about how all the other divs combined get a total that's a little higher than invite? Maybe I'm just stupid but this comment legitimately confuses me.

I could maybe see the argument for offering prize money to every team in invite because it's hard enough to get teams in there anyways but outside of invite it should really only be top 4 teams in every div

why should you ever get more money for playing in a worse div?

for the record, although having more divs with fewer teams is probably preferable overall to the esea system, this is the one consequence that we have to live with- entitled babies complaining that they get less for winning a div than people in the div above them, even though they would've been like 15th in open and that team would've maybe won it

the people at the top of the lower divs were always that entitled and pathetic, but there are more lower divs to be at the top of now!

trippai think the weirder thing is that almost half the money in every div goes to teams who didnt make top4

trying to incentivize people to move up

if they did it the other way winner of div 1 would get more than 5th place invite or whatever. and then people would complain about that.
