Been working on this way too long. Still have loads to do but after some thought, releasing this publicly will help motivate me to work on it more often, as well as help me prioritize what areas of the HUD need working on most.

Important:
MINMODE TURNS PLAYER NAMES OFF. This is an in-built streamer mode, and there is a button on the Main Menu which toggles this mode. I'm missing a few areas where names appear, so please let me know what those are if you end up using this feature.

Any idea why my vtf crosshairs cause this hud to break? I just transferred the 'vgui' folder from my previous hud (containing only the crosshairs) and then transferred my txt files for each weapon crosshair.

I think it's because the .vtf for the icons have level of detail, which makes them lower quality depending on your texture settings.

If you have VTFEdit, then you can modify the files in materials\vgui\replay\thumbnails. Just check the "No Level of Detail" on the left hand side. The files you want to modify are menu_twitch.vtf, menu_store.vtf, menu_server.vtf, menu_items.vtf, and menu_exit.vtf.

The end of round scoreboard is something I'll work on eventually, but don't expect a fix for a while. Not high on my priority list.

The player model thing was an oversight; I don't use the static images so I didn't consider them.

Killfeed will be moved down.

I've moved and resized the chat box the best I can, but so much of the free space is used up by HUD elements that there is very little I can do.

The centered damage number is a weird one, not a lot I can do about it, it's pretty resolution centric so where it's positioned for different resolutions may vary.

The player model, killfeed and chat box fixes will be in the next update; I'll push it tomorrow probably.

Really nice hud. From what I noticed you didn't work on stopwatch part of the hud yet, so was wondering is it in the plans or not on high priority?

Funnily enough, I thought I had already done it. Mostly because I remember this screenshot from an old version of the HUD that had it. I'll be putting it in next update.

Also a bug I want to fix, but for some reason am currently having problems with. I'll keep working on it, but for now it's not too much of a big deal.

Also a bug I want to fix, but for some reason am currently having problems with. I'll keep working on it, but for now it's not too much of a big deal.

I tried using minmode with player names off, actually kind of liked it but it was impossible to tell from the killfeed which team was getting the frags. Anything I can edit to enable names on the killfeed only?

Yeah, go into resource/extras/killfeed.res and change "TextFont_minmode" "BlankFont" to "Size 13" (or whatever size you want, up to you)

looks really nice omni

@perm iirc from when i edited names from my hud, you had to manually remove every instance of playernames from every file
killfeed playernames are in hudlayout.res under HudDeathNotice, not sure what omni did but the usual tactic is to change the font to null / move the thing offscreen,
so have a look there or copy the huddeathnotice over from the non minmode version

First impressions. The hud looks really clean, the timer, kill counter, meters, objective indicators. A top left chat and 12v12 scoreboard in an optional folder you could overwrite the default with would be nice. Vaccinator meter having a gap/line/notch or something to divide it into 4 parts(like the jetpack) would be nice since it doesnt have the percent number like other mediguns. Not sure what the diamond button next to loadout presets does, I think I've seen buttons there on other huds too I've just never used them.

Personal gripes: I'm not a huge fan of the team color turning completely black when hovering over it to select a team because it makes me focus on the opposite team color. The console covering the disconnect and loadout buttons by default since those are two of the buttons I use most often.

I know with the way valve handles meters these may not be able to be changed, but I figured I'd mention the unexpected behavior with weapon charge meters.
- Scout secondary meter is below the melee meter.
- Thermal Thruster has a 1 in the ammo area for some reason
- Loose Cannon meter is below the sticky/shield meters.
- Huntsman meter is below the Jarate meter.

Any specific reason you decided to name the hud flarepunch by the way?

it looks like rays hud with more personality to it (besides the menu). i think it looks pretty nice tbh. my only complaint is i feel like the color's on the weapons are a bit too saturated in the inventory

  • I know the feeling, but I like the main menu and I'm too stubborn to change it now.

  • Charge meters are as best as I could get them in the way I wrote the files. It's not for everyone but you get used to it. The Loose Cannon goes above the sticky meter because you never have both weapons out at the same time.

Amazing hud, I love how customizable it is, but I was wondering how to remove the grey background. I have a bunch of custom backgrounds I made from scratch, but I can't use them because of it. I've looked in mainmenuoverride.res in both /resource and /default, main.res in /default, and a bunch of others. Plz help

Amazing hud, I love how customizable it is, but I was wondering how to remove the grey background. I have a bunch of custom backgrounds I made from scratch, but I can't use them because of it.
