I've heard of them in the past but at a ~80 price range... nah. But they are on sale until tomorrow over at woot.com. http://tech.woot.com/plus/if-your-names-gunnar-these-are-your-glasses

For 30-42 dollars are they worth it? Every review said good things about them. thoughts?

Wrong section, and most people I know think "gaming glasses" are a joke (because they are). Except for that one FOV guy who probably needs them.

ty for moving it. thought general was the right section.

anyways, i often experience eye fatigue while i play but that could be due to lack of sleep/old eye prescription/using a crt.

just wondered what anyone else thought. since its been 2+ years since ive heard of them last.

I remember destro tried on a pair at an ETS LAN or something, and he said that they make everything look a little more vibrant and also magnify a bit. They are a bit expensive though, yet they probably don't give you any kind of real edge.

Actually, I also experience eye fatigue, especially late at night. As you said, this is probably due to lack of sleep and a few other things, but I can't imagine that these glasses would fix that.

Another thing I don't understand is that they have a bunch of different kinds, lol. I would imagine that some are probably more vibrant / magnify better than others, but it seems kinda weird / shady to me.

I have a pair. I won them at a LAN and couldn't find anyone to buy them. When I was addicted to dayz and would play for insane amounts of time my eyes started to hurt so I tried them out. They do help reduce eye strain but they aren't worth the money. You can get a pair of shooting glasses at Walmart for like $10 that are basically just as good

This is exactly what I was thinking. I feel like I'm getting to the point where I need reading glasses or something, and that would likely do just as much as the gunnars minus the yellow tint.

yeah idk whats up with that. im a huge skeptic about marketing bs like that. like that one time i saw hd glasses on a tv infomercial at like 4am. "see real life in real HD!!!11!" fuck those guys.

the features that stand out to me about gunnars would be the decrease in eye strain & color enhancement. but its probably just a mental thing. like shit guys i just spent 100 bucks on these glasses, they just GOTTA work.

edit: maybe they just have different styles for super stylish awesome individuals like us?

i bought a pair because i work in a dark office staring at two bright 24" computer monitors all day and they really do work, my eyes feel markedly less tired when i use them compared to when i don't

I thought smaka used gunnars to help reduce eyestrain/the impact of his color blindness. Maybe he'll make an appearance here.

Yeah, he used them. I think he strictly uses them for snowy maps for his color blindness. I'm pretty certain he only used them for the snow maps on LAN and didn't use them otherwise. It made it a little more bearable for him, but that's about it.

Pretty much this. They do help with eye-strain but I don't typically have issues with eye-strain. They do somewhat help me discern red from blue on maps with overly bright textures (mainly snow maps) but they don't seem to have any effect on colors for me on other maps, so I haven't used them since coldfront/viaduct were in rotation.

If you have eye-strain issues, they definitely do help, but if your vision is degrading, I would sooner recommend you see an optometrist and get lenses to correct the issue. If you have a prescription, you can get glasses from somewhere like http://www.zennioptical.com with yellow tinted lenses, etc. to help relieve eye-strain.
