Can't wait to get back to GXL. It was a blast last year, and I know a lot of people that are either going, or want to go this year

DontProbably interested, but (A) only going to be 17 and (B) only have high iron skills at best (just started all this comp jazz a couple months ago). Can someone give advice as to whether I should show?

I went when I was a Silver Heavy and had a lot of fun, even if it was for different reasons. GXL 2013 was fun because I hung out with the few people I knew and got to see all these awesome players IRL. GXL 2014 was fun because I had a footing in the community at that point and got to hang out with all these people I knew.

So, if you know even one or two people, I recommend going. To meet the people you know and be able to spectate some awesome TF2

I'm so excited :))))

Gonna drive out Wednesday so I'm not exhausted all weekend. If people are looking for rides from Philly airport on Thursday I can probably oblige a few of you.

Depends on what car you drive. It's actually cheaper by about 200 dollars for me if I drive from Nebraska.v.s flying. Granted, it would be a 17 hour drive, but still

MartyCan I get a refund if I can’t go?
We are not doing refunds this year.

Can I get my ticket transferred to someone else?
We are not doing ticket transfers this year.

i feel like this is gonna turn off a lot of people from going

Right now, we have no plans of doing refunds / ticket transfers. We spent countless hours doing refunds / ticket transfers last year. It was an awful headache, and it took up more than half of my time being the middleman in those situations. On the GXL website, we will have an actual hard number of how many seats we will have left. If you aren't sure about going, then don't buy your ticket until you're sure.

Benk's reply addresses my exact thoughts on this:

BenkMaybe a few but i'd guess it will take a lot of work off of the coordinators to not have to deal with all that. Last year we had pretty good notice as to how close they were to selling out so you could wait as long as possible if you weren't sure you could go..

Worst case you throw away like 45 bucks not really a huge deal.

Still unsure if I can go but having travel things sorted out helps. So if anyone can stop by Baton Rouge, LA, hmu and we'll work something out.

JasbuttsGoing to put myself down as maybe, I don't know if I'll have a usable computer by that time yet [plus I'd be flying from California]. For those who went last time, is there a lot of stuff to do outside of the venue? I understand you'd need a ticket to get inside to begin with or is it just for a spot?

there is not a lot to do outside of the venue, but there is a lot of stuff to do inside of the venue

you can just randomly wander around to different parts of the venue and just talk with random people there to hang out

the most there really was to do around that area was go to restaurants with other people, but i think there was a family fun entertainment center that no one went to, but i feel like they had gokarts or something there

there's a movie theater near by, but why would you go to gxl to go to the movies lol

Looking forward to more drunken conversations with people in the bathroom.

Also the only thing outside the venue in terms of attractions is a bowling alley, it has an arcade and some pool tables as well.

Pocket LF team. I'll probably be running QoL again for the boys in the back. Also, my hotel room is open to old teammates/people who recognize me on the floor. If you arrive super early (Wednesday or so), I'll be touring Philly proper.

Fragile, as always, hmu if you need something.

Some sort of carpool will be arranged starting from Indianapolis and surrounding areas, through central Ohio and Pennsylvania. I will almost 100% be helping so be okay with showing up early and leaving late. Hit me up if interested.

The worst part about this was finding out after the event that there were actually other bathrooms in the venue only a few people knew about that didn't radiate death and destruction

You probs have to pay to get in, paying to play in the tournament cost extra, please correct me of I'm wrong

I think last year there was an option for a spectator pass that cost a bit less than the standard ticket.

Yeah, last year the spectator ticket option cost like $15 or something.
