r4ptureQuick-Fix didn't help B&W during the finals and it certainly didn't stalemate the game, iT easily countered it with Kritz constantly.

B&W also wasn't Brad's serious roster meant to take on the top teams in NA. There was a definite skill difference in the game if you watched the finals. Getting double 5-0'd isn't exactly a balanced game.

r4ptureI just hope the ban list doesn't turn into a copy of ESEAs. Quick-Fix didn't help B&W during the finals and it certainly didn't stalemate the game, iT easily countered it with Kritz constantly. Plus apparently the Conch is banned in ESEA now? I'd like to see a league where (non game breaking) items actually get used and figured out.

We only didn't run quickfix because we decided it would be best to play solid how we normally play, rather then to try and play a different style. Quickfix takes good coordination and requires your team to play differently. But when you do that, it becomes clear that quickfix becomes better than kritz and uber in most situations and at the high levels becomes SUPER stalematey.

haha team it beat a pug team lets extrapolate that out into as much meaningless bullshit as possible

we get that you dont like esea and are grasping at straws to try and provide some kind of concrete reason as to why cevo is a far superior league

ur doin an awful job

it clearly deserved to win, they outclassed b&w in most aspects

dont forget to mention lpkane being an asshole/malware/how unfair it is that the best players in esea get the biggest prizes in ur reply bud

Yes, we just released a quick update to the site that allows you to pay with PayPal. We'll be releasing another update over the weekend that allows you to pay for multiple team members in one transaction, but for now you can still pay for teammates without logging out of your own account from the roster page.

We've also released our crowdfunding functionality allowing players/fans to directly increase the prize pools of the game of their choice via donation. 100% of any donations will go directly to the prize pools and you can keep track of the TF2 pot at http://cevo.com/event/tf2-6v6/?tg=80. I just started things off with a quick $10 :P

most of the time its just that i think people who

dont play 6v6

dont play esea

dont even play cevo

dont have a fucking idea how anything in the game works

shouldnt spend their time trying to bandwagon other newer/impressionable players at their level into their stupid plans

you are a dumb person who constantly says dumb shit and who also thinks that throwing "Well its just my opinion on it so thats fine" makes whatever you say untouchable or valid

Well, to clear things up, I do in fact play some 6v6, but causally. I don't play in ESEA or CEVO because neither have a linux client. I have a fairly good impression of how the game works, but don't claim to know more then players on a higher level then me, which is certainly why I didn't try to counter any of shruggers points. My opinion is only my opinion, no one is forced to share it nore hold it to any standard except as a random post on the internet.

Which is why you're kind of interesting. I disagreed with you about ESEA, and said how I don't agree and don't want to stand for what they do. Since I dared reply to you, you've stalked me around on the forums and various TF2 streams being generally...well, you. I'm not exactly sure why, but I have to admit I'm finding it pretty entertaining.

We haven't posted any rules for Season 4 yet, we're taking our time and consulting Lange/Nahanni to make sure we're on the right track. As we get closer to the season we'll release a few polls on controversial items and then set them in stone before the first preseason match.

If all teams have 6 paid member, S5 Prize pot is already over $4,000 not including any crowd funding that may happen for next season.

This is exactly what pre-season should be. Give our tried and true TF2 map makers some legit feedback so our map pool doesn't die. The only way we'll get new maps of "official" quality is to play the betas or RC1's in a structured atmosphere, so they can be reviewed and given feedback.

Hi folks,

I just wanted to make a quick update post and let everyone know that the multi-pay functionality has finally been added to the website. You can now pay for multiple teammates in one transaction, directly from a credit card or PayPal account. Also, thanks to a few awesome community members, our Season 4 prize pool now sits at $2,300.00 and team registration will remain open until Monday, February 17th.

If anyone has any other questions about the upcoming season or CEVO in general, feel free to post here or contact me privately, and I'll do my best to get back to you as quick as I can.

Thanks,
CEVO|Pipher

I love what you guys have done to support the community! Thank you!

Since the season is two weeks away, when should we expect the community vote to occur for coalplant?

As well as the finalized item whitelist and game ruleset? Just want to scrim under the cevo s4 whitelist as soon as I can. :P

Edit: This is a technical question, but will the sizzlingstats demos function like the matchrecorder sourcemod plugin or will it be the entire stv?

We're going to wait until the start of the regular season for our poll on coalplant as we want to make sure that we're only polling teams that are actually participating this season. Seeing as the map is slated for play in Week 7, if we do this during the first week of the season there will still be plenty of time to give everyone advance notice if the map ends up being switched.

Nahanni, Lange, and I are going to be organizing another community "town-hall" style meeting sometime next week to get some last minute feedback on our whitelist and official rules before we release them in full.

I'm going to defer your technical question to Lange, Sizzling, and/or techno as they'll be able to answer you better than I can.

Video Card Settings

All players must have ambient occlusion set to default (off) in their video card’s settings. Additionally, LOD Bias must also be set to default. Players found in violation of this rule will be considered “cheating” and will face a one year suspension.

Has this already been discussed, or is it legacy from a default ruleset? Most people I know, myself included, only use LOD bias for stylistic reasons. It doesn't really give very much of an advantage in terms of visibility in my experience.

I thought the argument for this in the past was that is does give a visibility advantage, otherwise there wouldn't be much point in using it as it doesn't boost your FPS at all.

The visibility advantage is certainly there- it's just that it doesn't really matter in tf2. I can see why it's banned in cs due to smoke grenades/flashbangs relying on visual effects to be useful, but tf2 doesn't have anything like that. I guess you could argue that stickies in props like the bushes on badlands mid are easier to see, but not much.

Edit: Here's a quick comparison I made: LOD bias 15, LOD bias 0. Both were done through NvidiaInspector.

Maybe the LOD rule could be eliminated for TF2, then? Because the visibility advantage seems near to useless, in TF2 that is.

The sizzlingstats STV recorder starts recording when the match goes live, and ends when the match completes.
