RadmanJust one demoman does a ton of work though. He may be balanced in 6s, but demoman is almost medic teir in HL. And in pubs, hes the one sure-fire way to make sure your team wins, other than medic ofc.

i was on an badwater upward pub earlier playing scout

with 30 seconds left to cap point 2 I switched to demo, and went 31-1, with my 1 death being when I pushed the cart over the edge of the last point

To try and make them as viable as the Degreaser, I believe. Backburner got +10% removed from it, Degreaser got a -10% added to it, but then all flamethrowers got a 10% buff.

Arguably, the old equalizer did need rebalancing though.

That said, stay away from the Escape plan. It is fine as-is.

I hope they don't nerf demoman because he's so powerful. Asymmetrical class balance makes an interesting dynamic in competitive play.

That said, if you don't think demoman absurdly overpowered in 12v12 pub play then you are horribly mistaken, especially considering the types of maps that are common in pub play.

That said, if you don't think demoman absurdly overpowered in 12v12 pub play then you are horribly mistaken, especially considering the types of maps that are common in pub play.

Certain classes,weapons,characters,and maps will always be more popular and just outright better than others. Valve is more concerned about variety in that they don't want every player using just this one class or everyone who uses a class to be forced into one weapon. It doesn't matter what class is really OP in a 12v12 pub because t people will play the class they enjoy regardless of if its OP or not they play pubs for fun, and in HL you are forced to have 1 of each class so its less of a deal since your team has the same "OP" class as your opponent does.

The point of that really long paragraph is basically Valve wants to make it so the players have choices more than about pure class/weapon balance. That's the way I'm seeing it at least.

The only thing they did was buff the stock flamethrower damage by 10%, the descriptions and attributes were changed on the other flamethrowers to reflect that, but their actual stats and damage values were untouched.

Honestly, this has always been something that makes me very curious. Can anyone give some insight as to why damage spread exists? Is it at all reasonable to expect that someday valve would remove damage spread?

That is as much of a product of the maps as it is the class. I mean, what can you do to the demo to nerf him on a map like dustbowl? You can't, it's as if dustbowl was created for a spam class that can lock off a chokepoint.

I'm most curious about potential tweaks to the quick-fix and vaccinator. It seems like Valve's litmus test for balancing is whether an item is infrequently equipped, and this definitely applies to both of those items. And tweaks to heal-y guns can have really big impacts on games.

Man, back when I was a pubstar spy main I'd be like "I can afford to take a melee to get a stab on this other person" but then bam, 71 damage noncrit melee. :c

It also makes melee battles a roll of the dice. One person can hit the other four times and not get a kill while the other hits three and gets a kill >_<
