yttriumjust keep in mind that Quake is being developed by id and not BGS. id doesn't have much to their name recently besides doom, so we can't really be sure how it's going to turn out. the only thing they share is Bethesda as a publisher. most of the fault you've listed are targeted at BGS.
Most of the fault I've listed is targeted at BGS as a publisher. I think BGS is an good but washed up developer, but I've seen no games from them that indicate their ability to actually run a development company. This is where we had our disagreement I think. I assume bethesda is a bad project manager, and you assume I'm talking about their company as a whole.
ID might not need oversight or management, but having a good publisher that can actually get the porting, QA, and community outreach portion of the game right is pretty important even if they don't fuck up the base game.
also i just finished morrowind again and I seriously have such a fucking nerd essay to write about how bad the last half of the game actually is. Everything after kogoruhn is so rushed and lazy that it ties back into behtesda clearly being unable to actually manage a product in a timely manner
yttrium
alright fair enough point I over reached when I said all their published games were bad. sorry for being a dick.
I was more thinking of the string of releases from 2009-2013 of games not developed but published by bethesda that were almost all received with critical "mehs" or distaste. Brink, Rogue Warrior, Wet, etc. Before that, the games they published were also pretty mediocre. Only around the release of dishonored and with the acquisition of ID did they start to actually get some IPs that showed some promise and actually delivered. The take away here is that bethesda is a very, very weak publisher in my eyes. Anyone who's played any TES or Fallout can see where their faults lie. Morrowind had the game world cut down by 2/3rds, the main quest had the alternative path cut out, 2 great houses were removed, what ended up being Tribunal was probably supposed to be in the Hortator quests, and there's a ton of unused content in the Construction Set. Looking at the history of the project, its very clear that goals were set FAR too high. A mod team has been working for nearly 12 years to replace the missing landmass and they're only ~1/3rd of the way done. Someone managed to make the "evil" main quest but it got released in 2008, 5 years after the game. The mod got updated last year and still gets support too. Tribunal got released but it was regarded as pretty bad and rushed. All of this points to the fact that bethesda is HORRIBLE at time management and actually getting their projects done in the way they want. This is not a development issue, as the writing and game design staff are clearly pretty on the ball. So, bethesda clearly has and has had issues with getting their projects the publishing support they need, with regards to feature implementation (scripting is horrible in every beth engine game), QA (bugsssss), and project timelines. I see all these in all the other bethesda game's I've played, and I think they'll show up in some way or another in this new Quake game. The real question is whether or not the development team can do what they always do in Bethesda projects and still create a diamond in a horrible rough.
KratataeeeKratataI find it funny how USA swimming hands out better justice than the US justice system...guy from the prison colony is a fan of life sentences for some reason
I'm kiwi mate, we aren't the prison colony
u still have a terrible sense of fair or justice
no u fucking retard actually read what I posted holy shit
bethesda has DEVELOPED several critically acclaimed RPGs and hockey games but has PUBLISHED predominantly mediocre titles made by other studios
DOOM and Wolfenstein are the only games they've PUBLISHED that have received any sort of positive critical reception afaik. The point was bethesda greenlights some absolutely horrible projects.
congrats on picking the one or two more diamonds in the rough and completely ignoring the point tho
do you want me to explain the difference between developing and publishing? because shit like the evil within, wet, and rouge warrior weren't made by bethesda
these are the games actually made in house by bethesda
this is a list of games they've published as either bethesda or zenimax.

yttriumbut fuck do I hate Bethesda as a publisher.
don't worry if u play TES enough you start to hate them as a developer because the exact same inability to actually do things right is painfully apparent in Morrowind and every game they've ever made
"we cut out 2/3rds of the mainquest, 80% of the gameplay area, and 2 of the factions now here's morrowind have fun"
Huckfrom Bethesda, the company that brought you great multiplayer shooter games such as
...
Brink?
Bethesda didn't develop Brink, only published.
which isn't an improvement because Doom (and newvegas sorta) is the best game they've published by nearly 30 metacritic points
Dreamboat6 months is going to lead to a sore anus for him in jail, so at least theres that
truly the mark of how civilized our society is it how we let prison rape be the true justice we all seek
what the guy did was probably bad, but the way the media, reddit, and the populace at large has handled it is infinitely worse and more scary.
phobiaEven if guns were illegal criminals would still get a hold of them. I really don't get why people always say " ban guns " lol.
large crime syndicates with international smuggling rings could acquire guns. Street level muggers and spur of the moment psychopaths could not. If a gun requires criminal connections and costs several thousand dollars, people who REALLY REALLY REALLY want one can still get one, but the autistic kid who wants to shoot up his school can't.
This is ignoring that not having tons of guns available to the public has a pretty positive effect on noncriminal gun deaths (which happen to be the vast majority of gun deaths). The average person can't be trusted not to kill themselves or their friends with a gun tbh.
89zombiezPrison sentence or not, this kids life is now 100% fucked by his actions. Money cant solve a bad rep. Which is good, the dude deserves it.
getting yr life ruined because of the internet is actually not a good thing but this forum is populated by children who see things in a binary :)
so in a sort of ironic fate, the judge managed to fuck his life up worse by trying to get him off easy. If he had just been a normal guy who didn't have connections, he'dve been found guilty, his charges would've still been dropped based on DNA, and he wouldn't be the guy with a wikipedia page for trying to rape someone
The artpass and lighting are gorgeous jfc how is the framerate on it?
also the dynamic map thing isn't a bad idea and could be pretty cool. A lot of payload maps play with the idea. Even if it doesn't work for 6s, this looks like it'll get into the game eventually because holy shit

Do you mean limit in a sense of "only x amount of permits can be given out In one year" or "x requirements must be met to require a gun"
The only "requirement" I'm against for getting a CCW is needing a "reason" for owning a gun. I always found that a bit too stringent.
In my state (AL), to be able to carry a concealed handgun you'll need to be 18 or older, pay a small fee, and basically register into a data base to say you own and are likely to carry a handgun. Enforcement is the hardest part most likely, and you don't need to be registered for CCW to actually purchase a pistol, which is the problem i think. In general, I think getting people on the books as owning concealed weapons is a good first step and a nice compromise between the current system and registering individual guns which many people are very against.
CCW laws are super cool but kinda shitty in the same way a lot of drug laws are because they put a really awkward gray area between what is considered concealed and open and leaves it up to interpretation by officers. You can open carry in my state, meaning just owning and carrying a gun is fine, but everyone needs to be able to tell at a glance. I think that leaves too much leeway for what really gets classified as open or concealed carry.
None of this directly solves the issues with gun control, but I think requiring the majority of gun owners to be registered for a CCW or something before making a purchase regardless of where the purchase is would make acquiring guns a big but tolerable pain in the ass. You'd still see crimes of passion with gun owners, but you'd see it be a lot harder to get access to firearms if you weren't vetted at least a little bit. Most guys I know are registered for CCW anyway but they'd probably hate it idk
