If you're buying all new ram, most motherboards perform better with at least two sticks, depending on how they're built. If you're set on 4GB, then get 2x2, but if you can do it, I'd do 2x4 anyways. 4GB is starting to feel a little weak.
It's exactly the same, except that you have to extract the original files/put a stock clientscheme.res into tf/custom/foldername/resource. I'm not sure exactly how to extract files under the new VPK system. Try to find a guide on how to make a HUD from scratch, including extracting the .res files, and make sure that it works post-steampipe.

It has everything to do with why LoL is popular. It wouldn't have half the comp scene it does if Riot wasn't pumping cash into every tournament. If they just stopped, even now after it's established, prize pots for LoL would plummet.
