#23 Looking for a good medic script/cfg and hud in TF2 General Discussion

Mine is a little long, so I pastebinned it: http://pastebin.com/niPiPUsf

A lot of stuff is still standard, except for moved key binds. I've just tried to use other binds like any-weapon ubers, but I just can't get used to it. There is still a lot in there that can be useful.

As for huds, I use EVE HUD. It's a nice, clean HUD that keeps the TF2 look (if you like that, that is). It also has an option for a centered Ubercharge bar, which is INCREDIBLY useful. If you get anything from this, it better be that you should find a HUD with a centered Ubercharge bar, because it allows you to stay focused ahead of you more than one in the corner. It's saved me more than once, where I'm close enough to a saving Uber and I can simultaneously look ahead and see just when I'm charged.

You can find EVE here: http://code.google.com/p/eve-tf2hud/
Get the autoupdater so you can quickly change options and update without the hassle or redoing all of your custom bits.

#9 Reddit and Valve "Team" up for April Fools in TF2 General Discussion
MiNiIf you click the last period on the valve response it has some weird other link.

Based on that, we're either getting some farm-based map (cp_harvest? I honestly don't know) or official robot skin miscs.

#18 Good Mousepad? in Q/A Help

Rigid pad-wise, I use a Steelseries HD4 which is pretty nice. Not exactly a conventional shape but the texture is nice and it will not move an inch. Rigid pads are a lot easier to maintain, too since you can just wipe them off with a damp rag or something.

#11 Anyone else having these issues? in Q/A Help

You're not the only one who's had the game crash while loading and alt-tabbed out. It happened to me, while I was trying to get in a pug, no less. Took out my item server, too - had to run stock medic on Lakeside. I've also had notifications for items go up mid-match, but not full screen.

If it helps at all I'm running Chris's DX9 with certain features readded (gibs, ragdolls, faces, objective outlines) and E.V.E HUD.

#20 Good UBF huh? in TF2 General Discussion
TurinThe funny thing is that people not part of the match are madder than Playground Tactics.

They're taking it as good sports. Going out and straight-up accusing Crunchy of DDOSing (when it probably wasn't even them), even just unfair tactics (which definitely happened), isn't the way to handle it as a team.

On the other hand, we saw the whole thing, and weren't participating parties anyways. We have the privilege as fans to complain.

#8 thanks guys in TF2 General Discussion

It's nice to know that you're taking this gracefully, but still, Crunchy Bunch handled it really poorly. One of the most ridiculous wins I've ever seen.

Also, do we have confirmation of ddosing (or dosing as the case may be, I heard both ways in chat)? Knowing the last month or so, I expect it is, but I would like closure.

#26 It Happened in TF2 General Discussion
trogvanillaNow we just need to get the Last Damage Done indicator thing fixed. What's wrong with it?

EDIT: Vanilla beat me.

But thank god for invisible players being fixed.

#4 Highlander Config crashes game? in TF2 General Discussion

If you really like your HUD, you could always find a HUD with a good stopwatch that doesn't need new fonts, and just add it to your UI folder (or make an exception if you have an updater). I've done that with a few HUDs that I've used, transferring old pieces from other HUDs to new ones (my current E.V.E HUD has a modified Brosel class select that I've carried over multiple HUDs). As long as you don't need new fonts and are okay with it possibly looking out of place, using a different stopwatch should be a passable solution.

EDIT: I forgot to point out that you should also copy the HudLayout values for it, otherwise it won't show up.

#6 Last Damage Indicator in Q/A Help

I'm using communityHUD (as a base, at least) and had to input it myself. The value is in resource/ui/HudDamageAccount.res, change all of the "enabled" and "visible" values to one and make sure "hud_combattext" (the same value that puts damage indicators over heads, I believe it's in your hudlayout.res) is set to 1. I also had to mess with fonts, location and font colors, but that's up to you. Still, you may want to fiddle with it

#44 Is it possible to innovate the HL meta? in TF2 General Discussion
RadmanWell I think the difference i want to point out is that if both teams drop the demo in 6s, you can still push in with both soldiers, or a soldier + scout. In HL, a demo drop on offense is felt a lot more than just being down a player.

Sixes tends to rely on aggressive defenses that keep the standard power class setup, so a 2 soldier/2 scout setup can still take on soldiers and scouts. You only really see mainly defensive classes like engies and snipers on Granary, for example. Highlander can rely on more turtled defenses since you have to have an engie and sniper, so the aggression and DPS of a demo is much more important.

I have to agree, though; I'd like to see if someone could beat the Highlander meta and figure out a way to do a demoless off-uber push...
