When I played Sun/Moon it felt like the game was holding my hand the entire time and showing me cutscenes every five minutes. Exp Shares spreading to all your Pokémon also made it ridiculously easy to breeze through the main game too. I'm liking what I see so far (apart from Dynamax) but I really hope this game doesn't make me feel like I'm just along for the ride to the extent Sun/Moon did.

really loving all the new designs! boxing my starter for wooloo for sure. i'm hoping for a knitting/yarn themed evo but that's just me. honestly gen 6 was the lowest point of the series imo so hopefully this continues the upward trend from sun/moon. i'm tired of the mega evo/z move/dynamax gimmick thing but maybe it wont be lame this gen

I just really wish that pokemon games didn't have to be so simplistic in the name of being kid-friendly. The series is practically overloaded with mechanics, items, abilities, moves, pokemon etc. and it would be pretty easy to make a challenging and rewarding game considering just how much content they have to work with.

I have sort of given up on seeing anything besides the generic formula, but I can always hope.

tbh that's understandable 800+ models and animations and textures on top of npcs and set pieces and stuff is pretty hard to do. still pretty dissapointing i can't see every pokemon in max res on a switch.

Pokemon is literally the highest grossing media (not just video game) franchise of all time, and the 3ds already had 800+ pokes in it. The switch is infinitely more powerful than the 3ds. There's really no excuse for this imo.

yeah i agree its quite annoying they cant add all the pokemon in sword/shield given their resources and why would they introduce pokemon home when theres a siginificant amount of pokemon cant be exported to the sword/shield games but maybe they just wanna focus more on the game and region with the new added pokemon

so wait. they didn't add the 800 or so pokemon to the pokedex in Sun & Moon, but still programmed each of those Pokemon to exist on the 3DS, but cannot do the same on the Switch. Solid work.

Another thing I saw you can put any Pokemon in the Pokemon Home, but it only transfers Pokemon TOO SW&SH so if your beloved Pokemon you added to the home isnt in SW&SH its just stuck in Pokemon Home I guess

Notice how no arrows go in reverse to any other game BESIDES SW&SH

I know its an unpopular opinion but I sort of understand why they went with the compromise of having less Pokémon in this generation. Each major graphics update they do between several generations require a massive amount of work, time and money. With the ever-expanding list of Pokémon between each gen, the workload becomes bigger and bigger. On top of that they have to design and implement new moves, new evolutions and their generational 'gimmick'.
I'd personally like it if they'd do away with designing new gimmicks and focus on NG+ or interesting post-game stuff for the more hardcore players. Maybe just bringing a new set of starter pokemon + legendaries each generation is more future proof as well.

At this point there's so many Pokémon that newcomers to the series can feel overwhelmed and oldschool players just get confused. I remember when I played Emerald I knew about every Pokémon's type and weaknesses, but when I returned to the franchise in Ultra Moon I was so confused every time I saw a Pokémon and had to look up their type online.

Pokemon is probably the only franchise in the world where quantity is more important than quality. Being able to collect them all (it's the tagline of the franchise) is more important imo.
In a time where there's a lot of emphasis put on the relationship between the players and their teams, the bond they've created and such, not being able to transfer the mons you've been playing with for a while looks like a bad decision.

It's the entry point of the main game serie on Switch (considering Let's Gos are spin-offs), so that's a huge blow.

yeah i guess they just couldn't really adapt to the new younger market and are desperately trying to and in so managed to fuck up one of the most unfuckable things of all time.

the games from sun and moon and lets go eevee are not interesting and play like shit, boring and easy and its rly quite sad that they're not gonna just replicate what they are good at

As someone who follows the OU scene pretty closely the idea of a bunch of staples not being in the game is kind of intriguing. I don't really want another gen of Tangrowth toxapex lando bullshit.
But also yeah you need to have every mon in the game otherwise what's the point
