Last year a bunch of gamers arrived at my house in West London, as we attempted to raise some money for Special Effect as part of their Gameblast event.

We put on some showmatches, and generally tried to entertain as much as our limited experience could manage. We made some friends in the form of essentials.tf, who gave us their time and expertise in the production side, and Omnibombulator of huds.tf aided massively in the set up of the stream graphics and website during the project. The event raised just over £3000, putting us in the top 3 independent groups raising money for the charity that weekend.

This year we have broken away from Gameblast, and hugs17 is to take place as a 26 hour standalone event benefiting Special Effect over the weekend of the 6/7th May 2017. This is to facilitate a move into a venue being given to us in Hammersmith, West London. This venue has an inner London quality business connection, meaning that it's incredibly unlikely that we'll have the same stream drops as last year. We also have more room for a bigger guest list, and as a bonus I won't have to spend 2 weeks cleaning up afterwards.

The site has been redesigned with the help of my closest out of game friends/business partners, Arrogant Pixel. It is filled with some of the juicy scheduled events that we can confirm at this point, and will be updated as we get closer to the event.

In terms of events for this year, we have confirmed the return of the popular Joy of Painting section. We have also made ties with some members of the jumping community, who are prepping an incredible 2 hour slot, and we'll be offering the same "high level" public gaming experience alongside our streamers and some of our invited gamers that can't make the trip to London.

As with last year, we are depending on donations of items to raffle away. We are also looking for more potential event sponsors, and anybody that thinks that they could have something to give to the project. Contact myself, or anybody listed on the team members portion of the site if you're interested.

With the event announcement, we have released a brief trailer featuring some of the standout moments from last year's event. For more information as it arrives, including event confirmations, follow us on twitter or visit hugs.tf.

We'd love to hear any of your feedback from last year, especially in terms of what you guys want to see in events. Otherwise, we'll see you in chat in May!

TLDR Hugs.tf's 2017 event will be taking place in Hammersmith, West London, over the weekend of the 6/7th May 2017. The event will be begin at 17:00GMT and run for around 26 hours, ending 19:00GMT on the Sunday.

Hello gamers, it's been a while. There's roughly a million updates to give for Hugs17, so I'll try to be concise.

Firstly, it's literally a week away (not literally, turns out it's 4 days away). May 6th-7th, 26ish hours of sleep-deprived gaming including showmatches on Saturday and Sunday, jumping, miscellaneous horror games and even an arts and crafts segment. Full schedule to be found soon at hugs.tf.

In other news, we have a medal this year! Available to anyone who donates £10 ($13) or more over the course of the event, in either item or cash donations, this wonderful golden heart will be yours forever and will allow you to demonstrate in-game how unreasonably generous you are as a human being.

As you probably got from above, we have item donations available this year thanks to the merry gamers at scrap.tf, so anyone who feels like throwing in that spare unusual, few keys or random skins you have just sitting about (including CS:GO skins and knives) can go to our page and have it directly translated into cold hard cash money dolla and sent straight to Special Effect themselves. As of the time of writing, there has been $2400 donated already through the scrap.tf system and we are quite literally speechless over the support we've already had considering we're still several days from the start of the stream.

Over the next few days we're going to be releasing near constant updates through our twitter (including the rosters for the Saturday showmatch coming very, very soon indeed) so anyone who hasn't already can throw us a follow and keep up to date with everything's that planned.

Little update for today:

Last night we announced our big Saturday showmatch (starting 7pm BST) which features Season 23 Reason Gaming (Permzilla, kaidus, Kaptain, Drackk, Stark and Hafficool) against an only slightly-adapted modern day Se7en (Raymon, Alle, AMS, Silentes, Thalash and Puoskari). Your casters will include Nuze and Beater as we find out if the up-and-comers can take on the old-dogs in this BO3 series.

In other news, we're almost fully setup to receive cash donations (although of course our scrap.tf item donation page is still going strong, with nearly £2000 donated so far) so that should be live some time in the next 48 hours. As always, all donations (cash and money received from items) will go directly to Special Effect themselves and will not have to be touched by a single person at hugs.

Got let go from my job earlier this week but Ryan was so charming when I met him at esa that I'll donate anyway, you should all too.

Also someone pin this thread or add it to the upcoming events or something?

I can't believe I've never heard of this event, we should bump it up so at least everyone here knows this event taking place
