This badass looking creature is called the Blue Dragon, it's a sea slug that preys on the Portuguese Man O' War, which just so happens to be over 1000 times its length. It then takes the poison from the Man O' War and concentrates it in its tendril hand thingys, making it actually more poisonous than the Man O' War because the poison is concentrated. It also looks cool as fuck.

Petrified wood is a fossil in which the organic remains have been replaced by minerals in the slow process of being replaced with stone. This petrification process generally results in a Quartz Chalcedony mineralization.

Banging your head against a wall burns 150 calories an hour.

When hippos are upset, their sweat turns red.

Pteronophobia is the fear of being tickled by feathers!

A flock of crows is known as a murder.

When you clap your hands or snap your fingers the waves don't travel faster than the speed of sound (343 m/s) so how are they sonic booms?

The water in the Dead sea is so dense it's impossible to sink

In (healthy) people, the primary urge to breathe is not due to low levels of blood oxygen, but instead elevated levels of blood CO2.

The hand is supplied by two arteries on opposite sides of the arm, the radial and ulnar artery. In healthy people, you can totally occlude one or the other and still have adequate blood flow to the hand.

The original treatment for syphilis was to infect the patient with malaria (to kill off the syphilus) then administer a drug (quinine) to induce a fever to kill off the malaria. (Bonus fact, Julius Wagner-Juaregg, the physician that won the Nobel prize for this, is the only psychiatrist to have ever won a Nobel in physiology/medicine)

SpaceX's Falcon boosters were made to land themselves because they would suffer too much damage to be re-used reliably if they landed by parachute.

Despite popular myth, splitting an earthworm in half does not actually make two separate worms. The half with the head is capable of living as well as regenerating/recovering its tail if it was cut behind a certain organ of the hermaphrodite. The other half near the tail will die off.

Also, pineberries are white strawberries that taste like pineapple.
