And why is that question getting downvotes..? Pretty legit thing to ask.

Cause some teams want to actually win and make necessary roster changes in order to do so?

In continuation it's also not what this is about. It's not like T0m is a bad player and he said he wanted to change and get better and was keen? You can help someone remove saltiness but you cant help them get motivation, thats on the individual, so in that regard they've lost out, a keen player is hard to find. What it's about is the act for an instant fix and to remove the problem quickly and doing it in such a way to someone whos always been there is a bit off.

Reason made 3 changes in S21 and won Prem :)

I think there are some main difference tho:
- Reason tried their best with that roster until the end. (mid june)
- skeej, wltrs and zoob could no longer attend to i55 so the team wasn't keen anymore as it was previously.
- The players who got kicked weren't the most keen, willing to improve & with the rein of the team

Why is everyone so focused on them picking up sil for the quick boost in skill when Tom literally admits that he got pushed out for being salty in the third post? You can say that they should have stuck it out until he fixed the issue but perhaps he had already taken longer than what they considered an acceptable time frame for the issue.

All that said I don't know the full story and won't pretend to.

What no one seems to appreciate is that there are 6 people in a team and not just one. I used to stream quite a bit and I had to stop because people on the team didn't want anyone to know how bad that atmosphere was in mumble. Turbo was feeling like shit because he literally had to persuade T0m to not leave the team on multiple occasions and this last one was the final straw for the team besides nuze. Then there is Funs and Maros who also were not enjoying playing the game as it was made more like a chore. T0m was also the maincaller and when tilted would go quiet and the game would go from a 0-1 to a 0-5 within minutes if it stayed like that. The general atmosphere during games was not something anyone in the team wanted to be in.

I am not taking anything away from T0m, he was the keenest of all of us and put a lot of effort into the game and the team. Nuze had great input which T0m always without fail put to work, but it was the fact that we could not carry on with the mood during games and after. The game is made to be played with friends, but when the game is made not enjoyable anymore is there really a point?

There are obviously other problems within the team which T0m is not responsible for but changing the atmosphere of the team will help the team improve on those problems.

Not using this as a dig towards T0m. I can't say a bad thing about him outside of the team and no one in the team could either. We just want to enjoy the game and it was not possible with the old lineup.

You saying it like it was all t0ms fault that the atmosphere was bad, (calling you out here) you were also very toxic and got tilted very often (not completely sure about the other players). Dont get me wrong it was very understandable to get upset because of all the silly mistakes but it was not just him, and he said he would try to change and you didnt give him much of a chance (maybe he has said that earlier and never changed. I dont fully know the situation but I heard he was going to try to change and he didnt get a chance).

Knowing hes very keen and wanting to improve I would trust him to it.

Well I was going to attempt to get something like this added to the article but given what’s just been said I’ll just put it here. Sorry for the giant wall of text.

God I would have loved for this to be dealt with in a different way.

In a way I’m not surprised this happened, but in a way I'm just so confused and disappointed. ChampGG.K! was meant to be a team consisting of some upcoming talent as well as some more experienced players. Our main goal was to give it our all towards beating se7en.
This team was going to be very tryhard and we were going to put a lot of time into improving our play as well as working on our current problems.

A little bit before the season started we decided to get a coach as the team saw how useful Kaidus was to se7en. As I said before all of this was so that the team could hopefully be able to challenge se7en.
However nothing is as easy as just going "this is what we were going to do". It became very obvious after a while that people in the team simply just didn’t see the need to listen to whatever our coach had to say as well as what I had to say in game and out of game.
I put a stupid amount of hours into going over people’s mistakes, going over the maps, creating strats etc. This is the main reason why I started to get very frustrated within the team. People wanted to play the game the way they wanted regardless of what Nuze or I had to say.

Some people within the team did put some time into going over demos etc however it never really translated into the game. It seemed to be done just to appease people. I never meant for my frustration to be shown in such a salty way. Part of the way I was getting frustrated was a way of showing the things that needed improving. I would mostly get annoyed through the lack of communication within the team and honestly, it got to the stage where it was like banging my head against a wall. In hindsight I was probably taking it way too seriously.

As I was so focused on trying to improve people’s mistakes, very recently, I haven’t really performed to a level I was happy with. I will admit I have said recently that they should replace me as I have a particularly low opinion of myself with my skill in TF2. I was asked if I wanted to continue and I said I would. My intentions were to go through some form of reinvigoration with this game and team. I actually spent the whole of Wednesday, whilst I was ill with the flu, going through some of my demos to see where I was going wrong.

Over the season there has been various problems within the team that were given time to be fixed. I however was never approached by anyone. I’m not naming names but there was times when other people in this team were actually going to be replaced yet they were sat down and told what they needed to do. This never happened with me for whatever reason, probably that no one else in this team could be bothered to go over anything apart from the odd stv.

I am truly sorry with the way things devolved in this team. All I wanted was to push the other 5 guys to be the best they could be. Sure, I could have gone about it in different ways but I guess that’s just what you think after all the hours you put into the team gets thrown in your face.

I am not done with this game and hopefully I can find another team that actually has the same aims that I do. If not, then thank you to everyone who supported me over the years it’s been a great ride but I guess it might be time for me to get off and move onto something else.

It's halfway into the season and champgg lost a match to a team they were solidly better than in preseason. How much longer should they wait before making changes?

No one besides the people on the team knows what goes on with their mumble while they're playing. If a problem like that isn't fixed in 5 weeks, what is another month going to do, except maybe cost them the player they want to replace t0m with if he joins another team?

If everyone on the team wants to change something how can you criticize them for that.

The goals of the players were all the same. The time people had to work on mistakes were different and the way they practised were different. I could have done more, everyone could have done more. T0m put the most in out of everyone at the cost of him being extremely frustrated that his work is not going to any use.

Communication is something that when in a team that is actually wanting to play seems to be much more fluid than when it is forced with everyone thinking 'Oh just another scrim...same old same old.'
As Damneasy said it sounds like i'm pushing it all on T0m for the atmosphere but I am not, like I said he was not the only person with problems in the team. Yeah I have my bad moments of frustration but I quickly let it go and I never take it outside of the game. I won't talk on behalf of anyone else in the team on this subject because everyone has their own opinions on the matter.

You're basing this on what, pcw results? I won't get into why pcw results are a flawed way of rating teams, but heres my 2c on the matter:
Champ had a lot of flaws preseason and during. People thought they were the clear cut 2nd team because they got good results and a few close games vs 7 and they have talented players that can make big performances. Now lets look at top5 - less talented players, so in theory they have lower potential, and they weren't getting as good results at the start of the season, but during the season we could see they were doing well in pcws, gentlemanjohn's scrim elo showed this.

There are a lot of things that go into making a good team in tf2, and tbh the only aspect that I think champ were better than top5 for a good bit of the season thus far were their talent (raw ability, dm, whatever you wanna call it), and at times focus fire (not even consistently). Top5 however, as a team of many seasons, have a lot of strengths that they've developed by sticking together (ironic) over a long period of time. They have more consistent focus fire, they are more consistently playing as a unit in game, they have a much better idea of their style of play than champ did, afaik they don't really tilt, and one thing that cant be ignored is that they put a lot of work into their play, I know ombrack watches a lot of other team's demos and they practice this stuff to counter other teams.

It's easy to think oh 'champ has better players they should beat top5', but if we forget the fact that champ has the talent to make plays in SLOW AS FUCK pcws vs 7 so they can win a few rounds, and lets think about this. In most aspects of analysis, top5 is a better team that is doing much more to reach their potential and develop as a team, whereas champ has thus far been quite a mixed bag, probably the most tilt potential in prem, varied levels of commitment in their players, and despite being imo the most naturally talented roster in prem, they haven't matched the results of top5.

Now this is in a lot of depth, and I have been coaching champ up until now so I know what I'm talking about, and in my opinion this wasn't a good decision even on paper (there was a misunderstanding whereby this happened while I wasn't around and they thought I agreed with this) - it has put a lot of stress on the players and the direction of the team, and unless spudd and sil are willing to put in the time and effort tom was doing to help develop the inexperienced players of the lineup, this will probably prove to be a bad move. I really hope they prove me wrong, and go on to develop strengths as a team, I genuinely believe this is one of the most talented rosters in the games history, especially with spudd playing, and I think these guys can go on to be great - but on the sole condition that they put aside bs differences and make active effort to help each other improve and be more selfless with their play. That was lacking while I was coaching and while tom was leading and thats probably a big part of why I decided not to stay on after tom was kicked.

Just one thing, I dont think elo actually reflects perfectly the skill of a team. Champ played Seven a lot, way way more than we did, resulting in us having a better ranking. Imo, and despite that move that I dont agree with, Champ was and still is the favorite for the 2nd spot. They just have to show it in the weeks to come.
