????? Why is this screenshot interesting except maybe for the fact that you're playing a druid that hasn't ramped at all by turn 9 and has somehow managed to give you card and board control

This is actually a pretty interesting screenshot!! Look at how the druid you're facing hasn't ramped at all by turn 9, and has even given you card and board control.

Hearthstone shows that even once in a blue moon, something good can be made in Unity

I've never played hearthstone, and I probably won't ever, but from what I've seen it looks fun. Just trying to figure out how it's an esport.

Blizzard put money into tournaments for it and it's a huge twitch hit?

last I checked (which, granted, was years ago), they still did single elimination tournaments, which is objectively the worst idea for a game like this. anything considered random can be played around with enough games (I once saw a fucking competitive mario kart wii scene--items on and everything--and they get around randomness by playing through a dozen races per "match"), but making it possible for you to drop out of a tournament from one single unlucky play is maddening

I don't know that I'd call it an e-sport, it's just a phone game that people happen to take really seriously. That being said it takes insane thinking to be the best just like most other card games and is definitely extremely competitive at a high level. People get thrown off by the randomness and although you may lose a few games from it randomness will average out over time and over the course of a multiple stage tournament usually the players who are the best come out on top.
