I really think that this guy deserves years of time, but I don't understand why he gets six months because of his status.

It's more the judge's fault for being so lenient on such a horrible crime

In most of the articles they write the details of his records and shit, as if it matters fuck all.

"What kind of monster would abuse a girl!? Oh, he's good at something. Well I bet she isn't, clearly it's for the better".

hold on now guys, how do we know that she wasn't just trying and fuck this kids career up

tons of cases like this occur and the fact that most universities sweep it under the rug

more that I think about that fact its just mind boggling that people would want to do that

just consent cause they think they will take the free way out of life then change their mind when they realize they were just a one night stand

I saw them speak about it on First Take a few days ago. The kid deserved much more than he recieved, regardless of his history, especially as the girl was unconscious

so in a sort of ironic fate, the judge managed to fuck his life up worse by trying to get him off easy. If he had just been a normal guy who didn't have connections, he'dve been found guilty, his charges would've still been dropped based on DNA, and he wouldn't be the guy with a wikipedia page for trying to rape someone

The defendants hired all sorts of private investigators and lawyers to trawl through the girls life to try and discredit her, disgusting stuff. It really is one law for the poor who cant afford that kind of thing and the wealthy who get off so light.

Prison sentence or not, this kids life is now 100% fucked by his actions. Money cant solve a bad rep. Which is good, the dude deserves it.

here's a very good article about the whole situation if you want to read - https://www.allthink.com/1329672

i'd say the most important points are these:

  • since Turner was almost as intoxicated as the girl was, this is more about negligence than intent, thus adding to a shorter sentence
  • if anything, money was the factor in deciding his short sentence, not him being male or white, but this should hopefully be obvious. (to those blaming this on sexism, the officer who recommended the sentence time was a woman)
  • whatever your opinion on this is, please for the love of all things holy do not become an affiliate of mob justice
