If you find that the mouse forces your hand into a high arching position, then it is not truly ergonomic, and neither its flashiness, or the glowing red dragon embedded on its peak will save you.

Such a great quote.

I was expecting high sens to be less stressing because less movement, but I guess it does use a ton of wrist and hand, which is where most people develop rsi etc.

Good stuff.

1. Maintain proper posture, desk height and ergonomics while gaming! Sit up straight; do not slouch/hunch your shoulders forward.

leaning back at your computer is actually not nearly as bad for your back/neck as hunching forward

I mean within reason obviously

yep, trying to make tiny precise movements on a high sense definitely strains the wrist a lot more. The lower the sense the more arm/shoulder movement there is and less pressure on the wrists

How high is high dpi? I mean, how high would it have to be to cause rsi

nykHow high is high dpi? I mean, how high would it have to be to cause rsi

thats going to depend on multiple factors. You could have 2000 dpi and like a .5 in game sens and it could be the same as like 400 dpi and 5 in game sense (these numbers are not exact but you get the point)

strictly going by dpi doesnt tell the whole story. Inches / 360 is a much better measurement

I really like the the section where he talks about high sensitivity causing issues as you flick with your wrist a lot more causing a lot of strain, I do find when I play soldier that I flick a lot more and it then causes a bit of stiffness in the wrist from it. I'll be swapping to a lower sens in general now.

The mouse section is pretty good, hopefully we get a dr. levi approved gaming mouse.

wouldn't having lower sens cause you to move your wrist more because of the slower speed? that makes no sense to me

depends

if you're going from a 2in/360 to a 3.5in/360 yeah you're probably creating more strain on your wrist. Going to a 10 or higher in/360 using your wrist for movement starts become pretty unfeasible.

It's not about how much you move, but how much the movements stress the tendons/nerves/etc. What he's saying seems pretty obvious (coming from a high sens gamer with fucked hands!)

I play with around 3.5 inch/360 and I have swelling and pain sometimes in my right hand. When I aim I don't move my arm at all, I only move my wrist which isn't good. For now I've just cut down on playing. I was thinking about lowering my sensitivity but I am reluctant because it will be such a massive change for me when I've never used my arm to aim before.

DiplomattI play with around 3.5 inch/360 and I have swelling and pain sometimes in my right hand. When I aim I don't move my arm at all, I only move my wrist which isn't good. For now I've just cut down on playing. I was thinking about lowering my sensitivity but I am reluctant because it will be such a massive change for me when I've never used my arm to aim before.

I used to play on relatively high sens back in the day (until around 2013), something like 12cms/360 (4.7 inches) and had a really high desk, which forced me to aim solely with my wrist at the edge of the desk. After a couple sessions on mge or dm I would always feel a lot of wrist pain it obviously wasn't healthy

I have since switched to a way higher sens around 33cm/360 (13inches) and transitioned to aim with my arm as well, I still use my wrist but I put only a fraction of the strain in it as I used to. Such a sens change will feel very weird at the beginning, I just remembered I decided to play a pickup as demo right after I changed sens without even testing it and that rollout was the weirdest thing, was running into every wall.

But with practise your muscle memory will get your aim back to normal in a couple weeks at max I would say.

In hindsight it was the best decision I have made, at least for my own health, developing rsi would be hell for me as someone looking to make a career in compsci. Also I only played demo at the time but changing sensitivity helped improve my hitscan aim and I improved quite a lot at scout in the long run.

i also used my wrist u know no wasted movements? like budists and shit. no point to move ur whole arm unless ur working out. SO anyways i move my wrist all the time and dont do anything but play tf2 for a while now and u know my wrist hurts too but i just power through it. moving ur wrist is dope cause u can just chill and hangout while u play u feel me? powering through it shows im a real man, or maybe an ox cause they are strong AS FUCK. also working out strengthened my wrists to the strenght of an ox (cause like i said they are super strong) and i like almost never have pain so yea shoutouts to all you ox gamers and wrist aimers cause we gotta rep the swag all day

he means arching ur hand....

step 1 - hold ur dick in ur hand
step 2 - hold ur fingers straight
step 3 - take ur hand off ur dick, put ur hand on a table wrist down so that you make a triangle

grats ur hand is arched

this is different from arching ur back
