I've now gone through and personally vetted every workshop map left on the list, and most look really solid. I adore cp_stoneyridge and cp_furnace personally. I have a few doubts about pl_rust and pl_timbermill but I'm definitely willing to give them a chance.

According to early results from the poll, the following non-stock items will be allowed:
Kritzkrieg
Original
Gunboats
Flare Gun
Bonk! Atomic Punch
Ubersaw
Sandvich
Cloak and Dagger

All partner taunts and infinite duration taunts will be banned, but lore-friendly class-specific taunts will be allowed. This can easily change based on feedback.

Round duration will be 25 minutes. Damage spread, bullet spread, and random crits will all be disabled. The max player count will be 20.

itszedTimbermill is pretty shit tbh

I want to give it a chance in a pub setting. If it doesn't work very well then I'll remove it. The mapcycle is incredibly flexible, and will change every week, shifting out bad maps for new promising ones. Good ones will stay.

I know this is a strange thing to bring up, but along the lines of the whole "a nice medium between lobbies and pubs for a competitive skill level" have you considered using class limits or even decreasing the server size from 24-person to 18?

I'm excited about a pub, wow.

yttriumthe following non-stock items will be allowed:

Crossbow?

yttriumDamage spread, bullet spread, and random crits will all be disabled.

It was decided in like 2009 that damage/bullet spread and random crits exist to make the game fun for people who can't aim. If I remember correctly the tf2pug.me MGE server briefly had random bullet spread and it was unbearable. Glad to hear this.

Also, goldrush is literally just pl_dustbowl. Like if I made goldrush and tried to sell it I would get sued by the makers of dustbowl.

You should consider enabling weapon pick-ups. I haven't seen them break any pubs as much as they break other modes like ultiduo. There are some pretty cheeky things you can do with weapon pick-ups in the spirit of pubs.

Reasonable class limits on some classes would be great. 3 sentries on badwater roof and 2 sentries on the ground below it is the worst kind of TF2. It's just first person Age of Empires.

BSPEI'm excited about a pub, wow.

That's the goal!

BSPECrossbow?

I love the crossbow personally, but I don't know if it really fits the feel here. Fucking nobody would run syringe gun and that's what I'm trying to avoid. Yes, it is objectively an awesome weapon, but I think it's out of place here. I'm already treading a fine line between a lobby and a pub. I'm already hesitant to allow the ubersaw.

BSPEAlso, goldrush is literally just pl_dustbowl. Like if I made goldrush and tried to sell it I would get sued by the makers of dustbowl.

I don't care for goldrush at all. Blame the voters. I don't want both, but would you guys prefer dustbowl over goldrush?

They weren't going to be disabled in the first place.

I'll look into it. Classlimit 3 and 2 for most classes sounds fine. Not enough to force HL, but just enough to stop 5 engies.

You should disable weapons dropping. With most unlocks banned there's really no point in weapon pick-ups.
Weapons lying around are pretty annoying.

sombrezHydro ramble

I heard all of those stories about how awful Hydro was, but I'd still like to have it in the rotation, at least for testing. Also because I, and probably many others, was too late to the party to witness it.

yttriumI'm trying to improve it over previous iterations by allowing some unlocks and having a really nice mapcycle. It won't replace pubs, of course, but I feel it's a nice medium between lobbies and pubs for a competitive skill level.

Careful here. From my experience, Pubs with people actually trying never work out. It just ends up in a demo/soldier spamfest with three medics. Coordinated pubs are horrendous. The beauty in pubs, at least for me, is that you can just hop in and out and play casually as well as playing with friends from the community. Due to this, I think enabling alltalk (as well as gravetalk, obviously) would be a good idea.

Screwballtbh not worth the effort
These community servers live for like a week at best. Blame quick play.

No, blame the shitty community servers like Saigns that made Valve server quickplay necessary.

Even with just stock weapons, the weapon pick-up is an interesting mechanic.

Ubercharge and clip ammo are preserved in dropped weapons. You can also pick up a dropped medigun while ubercharged and it will stop your ubercharge, and allow you to build from whatever percentage you had when you picked up.

100% support this idea. My brother always complains about how pubs are ruined with all these crazy hats, weapons, and skins. I'm sure the whole lot of us on tf.tv would appreciate a vanilla server like this.

what's the command? I only know of tf_dropped_weapon_lifetime which requires sv_cheats

that's what I was referring to, since when did it require sv_cheats 1? huh.

well even so, see the debate above as to why they're enabled
