If you don't follow CS in ESEA , Premier is the 2nd highest division. The article doesn't disclose where the venue may be, but perhaps some potential for the return of TF2 at an ESEA lan?

I'll just say it, if ESEA don't pick TF2 back up for LAN in 2016 they're making a gigantic mistake

it just sucks that most teams in cs professional have never made top 8 at huge cs events get a lan and now they are throwing premier into the mix, i have never even heard of any of the teams in premier except for tempo and thats just because of smash. the tf2 invite team are actually the best of the best it just sucks that the there really is that much more money in cs

GetawhaleI'll just say it, if ESEA don't pick TF2 back up for LAN in 2016 they're making a gigantic mistake

'if a for-profit business doesn't pick a game at a lan back up that historically lost them money 100% of the time it was ran they're making a gigantic mistake'

yes it would be lovely to see banny still lose to ascent with the whole ping issue taken out of the picture but lets be real

also #9 main used to have lan finals in source/1.6 for esea

With mm coming out our numbers should be going up. More viewers, more money, more LANs

Unless ESEA can slot TF2 into these events with very little extra cost I doubt they will do it, they already proved that dropping LAN finals made essentially no difference to their relationship with TF2.

Would love to see it back though if they do revive TF2 LAN playoffs, it was the highlight of league TF2 and it's a real blow to us that it disappeared.

ESEA would rather have people's computers mining them bitcoins than playing TF2 at this point.

sorry to say it, but there is literally a 99.9% chance there won't be ESEA LAN for TF2.

my guess would be that until TF2 has the crowd/playerbase to actually make esea money they wont give us LAN again. As it is now they are just keeping us on life-support on the off chance tf2 does get big, then they will have an easy foot in the door already.

It does sound like they're hedging their bets, note that they're covering travel expenses for Premier. And it could easily be at the same venue hosting the Pro finals for that season (which IIRC alternates so every other season the venue may move). Which if they do may mean they'll have enough infrastructure available to stick us in the corner, at least.

The idea is that if there's a sizable venue already being rented out for a LAN, hosting the TF2 finals presumably does not add significantly to costs, as equipment is usually provided by sponsors, and Invite teams attending LAN have always received travel support taken from their prizes instead of as an addition.

That's the most likely reason why we had LAN finals for so long as part of the larger ESEA LAN and why the LAN finals were dropped when ESL started hosting the Pro League finals at their studios. Given that these new LANs are for ESEA Premier, are separately hosted by region, and may be hosted by ESEA instead of ESL, there's a chance that a venue that can accommodate both CS:GO Premier and TF2 Invite teams may be used, and if that happens, there's definitely an option for ESEA to host LAN finals for us once again.

Whether they do so is another question, but the possibility exists with a non-ESL division getting its own LAN finals separate from Pro League.

yeah i was under the impression that tf2 lan got cancelled because the csgo professional lans moved to an international scale after the ESL merge

that doesnt mean they'll bring it back now that we have a local lan but we're basically back to where we were before the ESL merge

I don't understand why everyone is speaking like we're in the past and matchmaking isn't soon to be making waves in the TF2 community? Why do you think ESEA keeps TF2 around at all? They're just trying to keep themselves cemented as North America's primary league for this game. Luckily for them, they don't need LAN to entice us, because there's no other organization that offers it. They could probably drop TF2 entirely and it would make little difference, but they keep it in the rotation just in case.

kittyntf2 never had the playerbase or crowd to make esea money

like, a comment like this says what, really? Something we already know? Wow, guys, shocker! Before competitive TF2 was endorsed by Valve Incorporated, it didn't have the playerbase, crowd, or sponsorship opportunities to make ESEA a lot of money! Well, luckily, that's could be changing. That doesn't mean ESEA will provide us a LAN this season, but it does mean the mindset of "fuck TF2" is not a wise one.

what getawhale said isn't entirely stupid, no matter how badly you want to give an edgy response for those sweet, sweet, tasteful +frags. We can't say for sure it will be a huge mistake, but not being prepared for an influx of players and sponsorship on ESEA's end is a big mistake. It is, in fact, a business, and businesses will scope out the landscape for potential opportunities. Matchmaking is definitely an opportunity.

It would probably be better for everyone if this idea of "fuck TF2, it's dead," isn't something you're erroneously propagating. Everyone in this community knows you people hope TF2 gets bigger, and hopefully you can sacrifice the edginess for some positivity when it matters most.

i was trying to say that tf2 not being big enough to make esea money isnt a reason why they wouldnt have a lan cuz historically they held lans for tf2 even though its never ever been big plz dont hate me
