idk any military response to this accomplishes nothing unless you wanna literally execute the entirety of ISIS. just stay strong, look over policies rationally but realise that these attacks are relatively few and that we're all (in the west) comparatively safe.

I hope this at least brings back some political unity in Europe... we have a record of not getting shit together over the last few years. Financial crisis in Greece, Ukraine crisis, handling African refugees, Syrian refugees lately, there was no coherence at all in Europe.

That's just because it's been proclaimed a state of emergency.

Borders are not closed between france and belgium though.

But man, this is despicable.
20 years ago if you kept quiet and obedient as a hostage during a terrorist attack you would get out fine now things are so different. Fucking terrorists.

Sad to see people using tragedies like this to justify their racism. Tragedies like this are caused by racism.

DreamboatHaven't heard anything from my aunt and uncle who's hotel was 30min away from the attacks... Has there been any info on if any Canadians were wounded/killed?

https://twitter.com/CBCAlerts/status/665344252629688320?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

That was a while ago though, don't know if there have been any updates since.

A major part of my family lives in Paris, but thankfully all of them are safe.
Please all of the frenchies around stay safe, it's probably not over yet sadly. Myself being in Toulouse and as I said the rest of my family being in Paris, that's 3 terrorist attacks that directly concern me in 3 years, and I feel like the emergency state should have been used much earlier, especially when it was annouced that France was going to be big terrorism target. I don't know for how long the measures taken can keep us safe but I'm glad to hear that my relatives are safe for now.

We're a strong nation boys, stay safe. All my heart goes to Paris.

BonafideIf someone compares the crusaders one more time to modern terrorist attacks.. Than you are as much of a fool as the very same people you talk bad about for immidiately blaming the islam and all it's followers for it.

I mean lets be real but isn't it exactly the same thing? Just in different eras? The crusades were basically the Holy War in name of Christianity with the aim of spreading that religion forcefully while supressing/eliminating opposing ideologies / infidels. Which is the exactly same basis of modern Jihad. Islam is just 1000 years late to Christianity timeline.

Honestly most religions are fuckin stupid and probably the single major source of violence in the world because they can as easily work for the good as they can corrupt and extremize the minds of the weak, a world without religion would be a better world.

Jihadists want a Islamic Caliphate reigning over the entire world, which was a goal similar to that of the Crusades. Acknowledging the problem exists is the first step towards solving it, denial isn't going to help anyone except the terrorists.

Ok apparently someone from the GIGN leaked ON AIR this morning that secret services were somewhat aware of the imminence of an attack.

3 options : either they screwed up hard, and I wonder how this would be possible : if they knew that an attack was imminent it's obviously because their surveillance is very very good

second the guy interviewed is a plain liar (why would he do this and self destruct himself in the process?)

or third government knew, let it happen, sacrificed hundreds in order to switch to urgence state in the country, lockdown the borders and accuse the migrants flux to let terrorists in western countries in order to tell them to gtfo.

You will see in next days what states will say, but i'm pretty sure they will not send troops to kick ISIS' ass and instead happily leave all the migrants from this 70 year middle east mayhem stay in their shit without help.
Of course i'd be very happy to be wrong..

Yes, of course the french government is involved in a terrorist conspiracy. Of course they need to sacrifice 150 people in order to close the borders to immigrants, because they didn't have the power to do that at any time and for any reason prior to the attacks. And of course, french government officials are evil and have a strong, personal interest in keeping immigrants out of france, even if it means killing their own people.
Furthermore, it is of course impossible for a terrorist attack to happen in a small town such a Paris when the intelligence authorities have a diffuse threat awareness that something might possibly happen at an unspecified date.

Are you mentally challenged?

What needs to happen is we need to stop fucking about with these people and start background checking, searching for suspicious activity and be very weary of anyone from the area around Syria and Islamists in general. A big problem in the EU is people are actually scared to report muslims and police in the UK have actually been avoiding arresting them for actual rape because they are scared of being called "racist". We need to stop that shit and start looking at the facts: Muslims are the ones blowing stuff up right now and despite it being true that not all muslims are like these extremists, we still need to stop being scared of sjws calling us racist for wanting to target more suspicious muslims and start focusing our attention on them. They aren't gonna stop doing this as many of ISIS are already in our home country's in the EU. All we can do is rely on law enforcement to start investigating muslims more specifically.

Here is some proof that people are actually more scared of SJWs than they are of rapists and terrorists: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9253250/Rochdale-grooming-trial-Police-accused-of-failing-to-investigate-paedophile-gang-for-fear-of-appearing-racist.html

french secret services screwing up is definitely the simpler possibility.
all i did was list the possibilities i don't see how that makes me mentally challenged. If you're happy doing the regular #prayforparisripguysthatstoosad, then good for you.
And all of this does not mean that western countries actively fight against ISIS to fix the problem at the root.

Yes. We value France more because it is a part of Europe and there are a lot of people from this community there. Truth is no one really cares about Burundi cause most people here haven't even heard of it.

I think the fact that you used the Burundi and not Beirut as an example is exactly the reason why. And I think life gets better once you accept the people as they are. Of course you can tell them that Lebanese life is worth as much as French and some will say they agree, but deep inside death of an European will be more shocking not just because they value European lives more, but also because they realize they could be them.

I basically agree with the point, but raising this argument in this thread is very insensitive..
